Keep the palace short
An hour inside is plenty. Head for the Hall of Mirrors and the State Apartments, then get out into the park.

Ride, row, picnic
The little train, rental bikes and golf carts all cover the distance to the Trianon; rowing boats go out on the Grand Canal in summer.
