Truffle Hunting Tours near Montepulciano
The oak and hazel woods around the Valdichiana produce truffles most of the year — the prized white from October to December, black summer truffles from May. Hunts go out with a truffle hunter and their dogs, usually for two or three hours, and end with a tasting lunch where whatever was found goes straight onto the pasta.

Truffle Hunting i Montepulciano — Ofte stillede spørgsmål
When is truffle season in Tuscany?
White truffles from October to late December, the most valuable of all; black winter truffles January to March; and black summer truffles, the ‘scorzone’, from May to August. Hunts run all year because there is almost always something in season.
How much is a truffle hunt near Montepulciano?
Around €240 per person for a half-day hunt with a hunter, their dogs and a tasting lunch with wine. Shorter hunts without the full meal cost less; most operators cap groups at six or eight.
Do you actually find truffles on the tour?
Usually — the hunters take you to their own patches and the dogs know them. It is not guaranteed, which is part of the point, but the tasting menu afterwards is served regardless.
