It is as much about the delicious food and beautiful setting as it is about the truffle hunting! It is an easy stroll in the woods with the truffle hunter and his dog. Then a stroll back for a lunch with truffles, prosecco, wine, and dessert. You learn a lot about truffles and the region. The location of the event is at the Azienda Pometti which dates back to the 15th century. It is about a 35 minute drive from Montepulciano. The transfer to the location is not part of the tour so be prepared to travel to the location. It is worth the drive. You meet at the Tenuta La Selva to begin the tour. There is history and organic vineyards, olive tree groves, and gardens. We spent 4 relaxing hours enjoying the tour, the truffles, and the delicious food. You need good walking shoes and I would recommend pants.

Very enjoyable experience starting with a a scenic walk to the farm from our old town apartment. Upon our arrival we received warm welcome from our host. We then headed off into the woods where Paolo and his dogs made our day. The dogs are so cute, very well trained and quite focused on their goal. Their commitment paid off with lots of truffles being found. After the hunt we had a delicious meal prepared with truffles and some wine tasting. The lunch setting was so peaceful and panoramic.
My husband and I attending this tour late June 2025. Though individual pieces of the tour were great, including the staff, I was left sour by the overall experience. We were initially told meeting point (pickup and drop off) was in Piazza grande within Montepulciano (a 5 min ride from our accommodations). Last minute they changed the initial meeting point to the farmhouse itself which was over 45 minutes away. This meant we had to shell out an additional 60-90 euros to make it to our already overpriced event and then another 90 euros to get to our next destination point. It threw off the entire day and cost us much more than we anticipated. Moreover, though the dogs were able to find 4- 5 or so truffles for us, the hunt was in total maybe 30 minutes and seemed potentially staged. The rest of the time was spent relaxing by the pool and eating lunch, for which fortunately we had our all of our luggage and thus swimsuits but other guests did not and missed out on this experience because they were not notified of this potential in advance. The lunch consisted of a pasta, a steak, and cookies which was certainly not worth $240 per person. If I was being generous I would day that this maybe worth $200 or $240 total not per person and reasonably can be completed within 2 hours as opposed to 3/3.5. I ultimately would not recommend this tour to future travelers.

Firstly, regarding the meeting point: as clearly stated on Viator, the exact location is provided after booking. The address shown initially (Piazza Grande, Montepulciano) refers to our office, not the actual starting point of the tour. It is also clearly indicated that transfers are not included in the experience. The address of the farmhouse was sent to you six days before the tour, so there was no last-minute change involved. We also want to note that we were never contacted or asked to help organize your transportation. Had you reached out, we would have gladly assisted and possibly offered more competitive rates than what you paid. It appears you arranged transport independently through taxis or private services, which we have no control over. Secondly, the time spent at the pool was not part of the official tour but rather a complimentary extra offered by our company. The other people present at the location were not our guests, so we cannot be held responsible for whether or not they had their swimwear or personal items. We always strive to offer a transparent and high-quality experience. It’s disappointing to see a review that includes inaccurate elements, as it misrepresents what we offered and unfairly impacts our reputation. A fun morning with Paolo and his two pals (dogs) who discovered black truffles throughout the property. Dogs were playful and cute and Paolo was a great guide. Be sure to bring boots! The hunt was followed by a delicious filled with truffles
We had a fantastic time on our truffle hunt experience! We loved the walk through the farm, learning all about their organic farming processes and especially about their fabulous olive oil! Then we met the amazing truffle hunting pups (Luna & Zara, accompanied by master truffle hunter Marcello, truly the best!) who led us through a hike in the woods during which we found several truffles! Finally we ended with a delicious truffle-based lunch complete with organic wine and an unbeatable view. Highly recommend!
Amazing time walking through the woods with our professional truffle hunter and his 2 dogs. Found loads of truffles and then had a truffle forward lunch with wine pairings!. Everyone was extremely nice, dogs were a hit, and we had to use Google translator quite a bit. Very authentic and fun time. I would highly recommend this experience.
Paolo, Supa, and Lela were absolutely wonderful! We spent almost 2 hours in the fields hunting truffles - learned a great deal, experienced finding truffles, and had fun exploring. Terrific experience! Matteo hosted a delicious luncheon with great wine. We’d highly recommend this experience - once in a lifetime!!!!
The guide was excellent despite his limited English, he made all attempts to communicate with us effectively. He was engaging and made the experience memorable. The only downside was all of the troubles that we found we were not given any to take with us. Nor were they used for our lunch ?
It was an amazing experience. The drive to the farm was incredible, and meeting Lucca and Ronnie, the black retriever, was the best. While there was no guarantee that we would find truffles, we ended up finding five good-sized truffles. The lunch of truffle ravioli and truffle filet was out of this world. You can't beat the views! I highly recommend it.
