Stone Town, som finns med på UNESCO:s världsarvslista, är en av de intakta historiska Swahili kusthandelsstäderna i Östafrika. Det finns gott om butiker, dess blandning av människor, dess livliga marknader och restauranger, moskéer, kyrkor och hinduiska tempel kombineras och olika kulturer. På vår Stenstadstur kan du upptäcka intressanta artefakter som de böjda arabiska dörrarna med mässingsreglar, böjda balkonger, det koloniala postkontoret eller Kangamarknaden. Våra guider kommer att upptäcka de mest intressanta sakerna. Turen inkluderar den centrala marknaden, den tidigare slavmarknaden, Anglikanska katedralen, House of Wonder, Old fort, Freddie Mercury House och mycket mer.
Idag är ön en liten turistort, känd för sina gigantiska sköldpaddor. Vår guide ger dig en kort introduktion till öns intressanta förflutna och du kan sedan spendera lite tid med att sola, simma eller gå runt för att se sköldpaddor och påfåglar. Dessutom tar en traditionell träbåt dig till Prison Island. Ön användes tidigare som privat internering för olydiga slavar. Senare byggdes ett fängelse, men användes aldrig.
Du kommer att bli överväldigad av överflödet av exotiska kryddor, frukter och grönsaker som växer i dessa tropiska trädgårdar. Njut av olika färska kryddor som kanel, kardemumma, ingefära, muskot, vanilj eller svartpeppar. Smaka på en mängd olika frukter från rosenäpple till söt citron till guava! Det är också intressant att lära sig hur vissa växter används inte bara av lokalbefolkningen för att bota vissa sjukdomar, och hur andra som henna, parfymträd och läppstift träd finner sitt värde för att förbereda kosmetika.

Khamis is very knowledgeable and gave us in-depth knowledge and information about stone town and prison island! We started off the day at a reasonable time after being dropped off by our driver from Nungwi. I recommend Khamis to everyone!

We went to StoneTown on our first day in Zanzibar. Khamis took us from the hotel and drove us to Stonetown where we got on a boat and reached Prison Island. There he told us the history of the island - he was very explanatory and we learned a lot of things. We saw turtles that where more than 100 years old. We took some pictures and then we went back to Stonetown. We went on a tour in the city and Khamis told us how old the city was. We saw a lot if culture and historical sites. It is a must see. We even saw the slaves museum there. After that we went to the Spice farm. This was the best part of the day. The people from the farm showed us many fruit and spices plants - cinnamon, avocado and many more. In the end there was a boy who climbed a palm to the end of it and sang a traditional song. Then they cut us a coconut to dring and to eat. At the end we could buy spices for home. It was a wonderful experience - thanks to Khamis, I definetely recommend him - he was kind to everyone of my family. Definitely the best tour guide we could find!

Fantastic guide! (Tall) was very knowledgeable and lots of fun, we were sceptical about Stone Town but Tall made it very enjoyable. The history and builds were fascinating.

Had a great time touring with our guide, Tall, who showed us the amazing sights of prison island and gave us a great historical rundown of how the island came to be. Since we took a private tour, we got to cater the experience to focus on only the elements of the island we cared for. We spent a great amount of time also learning about the turtles that currently inhabit the island, and, on our way back got to have the freshest fruits for lunch. Highly recommend this tour!
