This experience was so so so incredible ! Abraham and his team were spectacular at balancing safety and fun ! I was so impressed with how large the team of support is from porters to safety kayakers in the water extra people on the boats and even a photographer. Food also great and so knowledgeable in the truck talking about the villages and nature around us ! Couldn’t recommend them more . Even better they are Zambian owned and operated !!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Maano Adventures and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to go whitewater rafting in Livingstone! We booked quite last minute, but they were incredibly accommodating and managed to fit us in without any hassle. Communication was excellent from the start. We were told they’d pick us up at 09:00 from a hotel near the rafting turnoff and they arrived exactly on time. The drive to the river is on a very rough road, but that’s simply the nature of the area and completely outside their control. Our driver handled it professionally and safely, which immediately put us at ease. Once we arrived, we received one of the best safety briefings we’ve ever had. Everything was explained clearly and I felt completely confident about what to do in every possible situation before we even got on the water. The walk down to the river is fairly long, but it’s well maintained with proper steps. It’s definitely worth knowing beforehand that there is quite a hike down—and of course back up afterwards—but that’s all part of rafting in the Batoka Gorge. We were in a convoy of five rafts and somehow ours was the only one that didn’t flip! I think our crew worked together really well, which definitely helped. To be honest, I’m almost disappointed we didn’t tip over because it looked like so much fun! Our guide, Enock, even offered to intentionally flip our raft if everyone agreed, but not everyone in our boat was keen. We were a group of four from South Africa rafting with another group of four from Australia and everyone had such a great sense of humour. There were plenty of laughs, lots of close calls, and even a couple of accidental swims from some of our boat mates. It made for an unforgettable experience. A special shout-out to our guide, Enock. He was knowledgeable, encouraging, funny and made the whole trip feel exciting while keeping everyone safe. After the hike back up, we were pleasantly surprised to immediately receive cold water and soft drinks. We also enjoyed a generous lunch, which we hadn’t even realised was included in the package. After such an active morning, it was exactly what we needed and was a wonderful extra touch. One thing future visitors should know is that there are local villagers selling handmade souvenirs at the top of the gorge. They can be quite enthusiastic, but this isn’t something Maano Adventures can control as all rafting companies finish at the same exit point. We actually bought two beautiful handmade pieces and were happy to support the local community. On the drive back, some of the guides chatted to us about the local villages, their culture, and what life is like in the area. It almost felt like we got an extra little cultural tour on the way home, which we really appreciated. From start to finish, everything was organised, professional, and incredibly enjoyable. Thank you to Enock and the entire Maano Adventures team for an unforgettable day. We would absolutely do it again!
