We had such a great time on this tour! The guides were amazing and expertly maneuvered through the water to ensure the best view of whales for guests. Chris was so great and gave us a ton of fun facts, which we absolutely loved! To top it all off, a pod of dolphins followed us all the way back to shore. Incredible experience, would highly recommend. 10/10 stars!
the boat is clean, the sailor and his assistant are very caring knowledgeable doug all they can to make us have an enjoyable time
Be prepared for a three hour tour but overall just enjoy the moment. It's an amazing experience imo.
Well arranged & provided enough opportunities to see whales & dolphins, could have been better if they helped folks not form multiple lines so first come first serve is not defeated by folks who decide to get brave.
We saw whales and it was a whale watching trip so we received what we paid for. Upon arrival the staff was very rude, the Viator report time was 10 AM but we were scolded by an elderly man inside the office that said “you are late“ at 10:01 AM. The gentleman outside the office told us we were supposed to be there at 9:30 AM but I could not find that guidance anywhere on the Viator description. If you’re prone to sea sickness reconsider, there were multiple people vomiting off the back of the boat.
Long story short: this trip was amazing. Long story long… wow, just wow! We looked into several different whale watching companies before deciding on Chris’s, and we definitely made the right choice. The location was easy to find, check-in was quick and simple, and we made our way to the boat without any issues. When we first arrived, there was a large group of people listening to a safety briefing, and we were a little worried about how crowded the tour was going to be. It turned out the briefing was actually for the much larger boat next to ours, which was a huge relief. Once we realized that, we boarded our boat and grabbed seats at the front. Seating up front is a little limited, but there was still plenty of room throughout the boat, and it never felt crowded. Make sure you are there early though because the boat departs exactly at 10am. The captain was incredibly knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information throughout the trip. The crew member assisting him also walked around several times to check on everyone and make sure nobody was getting seasick, which we really appreciated. We saw so much wildlife, including dolphins, whales, and sea lions. The highlights were definitely the whale and dolphin encounters. At several points, the whales came within what felt like 10–20 feet of the boat, making for an unforgettable experience. The dolphins were even more incredible, swimming just inches from the boat as they raced alongside us. It truly felt like we were right in the middle of their world. The ride out into the bay was definitely chilly, so I’d recommend dressing warmly, even if it feels nice on shore. Also, don’t let the fog fool you—put on sunscreen! It looked overcast the entire time, but the UV rays still came through, and we both ended up with what everyone jokingly calls a “fog burn.” The best part of the experience was the smaller boat. Because there were fewer passengers, everyone had a great view of the water without having to fight for a spot along the rail. I was also worried about getting seasick, but I wore a motion sickness patch and had no problems at all. We were out on the water for about three hours, and it was absolutely worth every penny. Between the incredible wildlife, knowledgeable crew, comfortable boat, and uncrowded experience, this was easily one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re trying to decide which whale watching company to book with, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Chris’s.
My sister and I get together once a year and we decided to go to Monterey this year. We booked the Chris’s whale watching tour because it guaranteed we would see whales and because it was a smaller boat. The ocean was a bit busy but the trip was wonderful. Both the captain and the deck hand were excellent and kind. So many were a bit seasick but everything was quietly taken care of. We saw many whales and some dolphins swam beside the boat. All in all it was a great experience. I would recommend it to everyone.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience, the ease of collecting tickets to the meet point. Staff on the boat were knowledgeable and very friendly. Managed to see we whales and boys were very happy.
What a wonderful day! We saw so many whales, sea lions and an otter or two. We really appreciated learning more about the mammals without talking nonstop. Well worth the money!
Fantastic! A great experience we will always remember!
