Today, we celebrated my birthday with the “Gentle Giants”! Maricella, Tito and the Captain made the day extra special for me! 29 again!! Here is the most important tip to make your day amazing: Make sure to take some type of anti-nausea medication before the trip. My husband and I felt great because we took Gravol (Dimenhydrinate) thirty minutes before we got on to the boat. (I found the Gravol on Amazon). The trip out to the Whale Sharks was rough which made a few people sick. Don’t end up like them- take something before you go! Enough about that- The crew on the boat worked as a team to get us “up close and personal” with the Whale Sharks. They kept all of us safe and were respectful of the animals. Such a great way to celebrate another AMAZING year on this planet! 🤩
I celebrated my birthday today with the Whale Sharks and it did not disappoint!! Eco-Tours was able to get us up close and personal with the Gentle Giants. This was a “bucket list” item for me! Maricella, Tito and the Captain worked very hard all day long to make sure everything was perfect.

What an unforgettable experience! Swimming with the whale sharks was truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and Ariann and her team made the entire day exceptional. The trip was well-organized, fun, and exceeded our expectations. Ariann’s passion, enthusiasm and expertise gave us a thorough understanding of these incredible sea creatures. The team made fresh homemade guacamole and ceviche for lunch - it was AMAZING!! If you are prone to motion or sea sickness, I suggest taking something, it’s pretty choppy on the open water with no land in sight. You can rent wetsuits at the marina before heading out. Ariann and her team will take pics and videos so you can concentrate on enjoying the whale sharks. Make sure you take cash for tips. If you’re considering a whale shark excursion, I highly recommend booking with this group, who is also Eco certified. Thank you again for helping create such amazing memories!
Wow, what an awesome experience to be in the water with these majestic Whale Sharks. Our guides were fantastic. My only negative was I felt to many boats rounding up the Whale Shark and at times the boats were to close to people in the water.
Had the most amazing experience, we had 3 opportunities to swim with the whale sharks in their natural habitat & also spotted multiple manta rays which we also got to swim with! Jonny & Danny the boat crew/ captain was great and found the whales really quick and also pointed out multiple green sea turtles on the boat journey. Our guide Arturo was great and took his time with everyone which was appreciated. There was other boats/ tour guides in the same area but everyone was very spread out and respectful to the wildlife with sticking to the regulations to keep them safe. Thank you for making bucket list moment such an incredible one !
Wonderful experience! Arturo was an expert at making the trip work for everyone. We did have 2 people get very seasick. Prepare accordingly! But everyone had a great time, we all had 2 turns in the water and there were tons of whale sharks! Also, the guacamole and ceviche they made for us was delicious!
This was a wonderful experience! Arturo was an awesome guide. He was patient and kind with our 10 year old and explained everything fully. We saw so many whale sharks, manta rays and we even saw dolphins on the way! 🐬After our encounter we stopped at a local beach for salsa 🌶️guacamole 🥑 and ceviche 🍤- it was the best ceviche I have ever had in my life 😋
We had a fantastic day out!! Our driver, Carlos, was careful and kind. We were surprised how long it took to get to the marina, but it’s understandable given how spread out the hotels are in Cancun. Arturo, our guide was fantastic the entire day. Informative, attentive, safety conscious and always had a smile on his face. Our deck hand, Chano, was helpful even before we knew we needed help!! And after watching other boats out in the water, I think our captain, Julio, was the absolute best captain out there! He managed the safety of all people, made the ride as comfortable as possible, and dropped us off in the perfect spot to see the whale sharks!! First rate experience in every regard. Thanks again!! My only negative is that the videos are terribly expensive at the cost of $80 for 6-7 30 second videos. But Arturo did a great job with what he captured!
Really great fun swimming with whale sharks and manta rays! You can rent a wetsuit if you have snorkling experience and don't want to use a life jacket but you will need to have a life jacket or wetsuit. Even if the descriptions says mineral sunscreen, they say no sunscreen so be prepared with clothes if you burn like I do!
