We had an awesome experience with Walkabout Cultural Adventures! Our family (adults & teens) really enjoyed the mud crab hunting in the tidal flats and swimming in the river at Mossman Gorge. Our guide Chase was very knowledgeable and fun! This tour is a "must do" for anyone in the Cairns/Mossman area!
From start to finish this was an amazing experience with our guide, Aaron. We tried our hand at spearing for mud crabs as well as munching down on green ants that really did taste of lemon/lime! Lunch was a delicious wrap served alongside fresh baked damper and a selection of unusual tropical fruits that Aaron had picked up from a fruit shop/orchard during our trip. Aaron taught us a lot of interesting things about bush medicine throughout the day. We stopped at Mossman Gorge for a walk or swim then headed back to Port Douglas via a chocolate factory which makes and sells the best chocolate we've ever tasted. We would definitely recommend this tour.
Thank you for firstly coming on tour, and secondly sharing the review, means a lot to us to know we have shared our country and culture with engaged people like yourselves
Very nice and learning tour where our guide Aron took all efforts to show us as much as possible. He also took great care to make the trip enjoyable for all participants. Great day.
That is lovely to read, thank you. Have a great rest of your trip
This was an excellent tour and it was action packed. My first time to the Daintree and Aaron our guide was fantastic. He is so knowledgeable and helpful and kind. It was a personalised tour and he shared so much of his knowledge about the local flora and fauna and such interesting information on the medicinal uses of many of the plants and trees we came across. Aaron shared so much of his Indigenous culture and living his entire life in the area was able to explain things in a sinple and understandable way. We saw a crocodile named Howard and swam in a gorge with healing waters. I highly recommend this tour for anyone that wants to take a deep dive into the history of this area and explore its beauty for an entire day. Thankyou Aaron. That was awesome!
Thank you guys for getting out & about with us. Aaron loves sharing his knowledge of the land and culture with people such as yourselves. The Mossman Gorge is something else hey! We all love going there.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. We learned about the history of indigenous people through one of their very own. We were treated as if we were part of their family. The tour was filled with lessons on how the natives used and respected the rain forest. It was an experience I won't forget.
So good to hear, it sounds like you truely embraced what we have to share. Thank you for touring
We had a full day with Chase Walker. She was very informative and a pleasure to spend time with. We did try to find and spear a mud crab- which we couldn’t find, but it was really fun to try. Chase fixed a lovely lunch with fruit she selected from a farm stand and wraps which were fresh and delicious . We also got to eat damper bread made by her grandmother. She brought us to her grandparents’ house to eat lunch, and we got to meet her grandparents. She gave us a comprehensive explanation of the history of her tribe and treatment by the government , including showing us photos and charts as well as tools, weapons, and natural objects that had meaning in their culture . After lunch we went to Mossman Gorge, which is beautiful and where you can swim. Altogether an amazing experience.
Thank you for sharing your review. I like that you enjoyed getting out & about on country with Chaseley.
Chase, our guide was fabulous. It was a very comprehensive tour. We even got to eat the blue crab we speared. Chase cooked it & it was delicious. I highly recommend this tour.
Thank you, Chaseley also enjoyed meeting you guys and showing you around our country
A beautiful family run business sharing their precious indigenous knowledge. Exactly what the world needs now. Not like your normal tour. Thoughtful, educational, and lots of fun. And if you’re lucky, there might be some music. They are superb musicians. Go on, spoil yourself and listen to the stories of the old days.
Nice wrap up, thank you for sharing, and thank you for touring with us.
We had such a pleasure at the tour! Were able to taste many different things, learned a lot about the rainforest and it‘s living. It was a very well spent day and we definitely think this was one of our travel highlights so far!
Thank you for the review, and for touring with us. We live in such a special part of the world, and love sharing this with those visiting.
Our small group tour lead by Chase Walker was fun and informative. Initially we picked-up wraps for a later lunch, and visited a farm stand for fresh fruits which Chase shared among the group. ( tip: DO NOT buy the honey sold there if you plan to travel to another country. In spite of what the vendor said, mine was confiscated upon arrival to NZ.) Throughout the day Chase showed us medicinal plants that the Aboriginals use, and spoke of their history and culture. We visited a rain forest, spent time on a beach walk, waded in a fresh water stream and ate our wraps on her family's veranda.
Thank you for sharing, we love hearing from people we take out on tour. We love being out on country each day, and sharing our knowledge, so thank you for choosing to tour with us.
