Very engaging workshop for the kids and the tour was awesome, not just for LOTRs fans.

Fun, laid back workshop. Tools are made available and you are given some tips on creating a head with modeling clay and replicate textures with monster clay. The clay is oil based and therefore does not set up permanently, but you are given your modeling clay to take home to continue practicing. One item I would like to see added is something from the main tour, the Wētā workshop does amazing sculpting work with aluminum. While we had a chance to play with aluminum sculpture in the main tour, it would be nice to see it featured in some way in the sculpting class. Even a mention with some examples and a brief demonstration would be nice, especially since aluminum is so readily accessible to most anyone.

This was my third visit to Weta Workshop in Wellington, I have no advice for them to improve what they do. We went to learn about the magic involved in creating the most amazing characters and props for the movies, we were not disappointed. I took my grand-kids who are 7,9,14 and 15 they loved it. What they make look easy and so realistic in the movies, comes together after hours, years of dedication to creating the perfection we love to watch. The Gallipoli display at Te Papa is one of the very best things I have ever seen (4 times) it was initially only supposed to be there for 5 years and it's still there 10 years later drawing crowds everyday. This is a magnificent and emotional experience of which I doubt, can be equaled anywhere and it's all down to Weta's incredibly talented, dedicated team. I can't say enough about the Te Papa team for the way this display has been set up, one visit is not enough to take in all. Weta is one of my favourite visits of all time.

Informative and enthusiastic instructor. Only 10 people in the workshop, allowed for clear guidance and support. 90mins, with hardly any time sitting just listening, before being able to start creating. Supportive to all attempts and styles. Light hearted and easy going environment.
