Den berömda Stora pyramiden i Khufu är den överlägset största, högsta och mest intakta pyramiden i Egypten. Efter uppförandet blev den ett av de ”sju underverken i den antika världen”, och idag är den den enda av dem som finns kvar. Under en period av 4300 år var pyramiden också den högsta byggnaden på jorden, tills fransmännen byggde Eiffeltornet 1889. Khufus pyramid är helt byggd av kalksten och anses vara ett arkitektoniskt mästerverk. Den innehåller cirka 1 300 000 block som varierar i vikt från 2,5 ton till 15 ton. Khafres son, Menkaure, byggde den minsta av de 3 huvudpyramiderna på Gizaplatån. Den här var bara 65,5 m lång, numera 62 m, med sidor på 105 m och en vinkel på 51,3 grader. Man tror att denna pyramid ändrades under dess uppförande, och gjordes mycket större än ursprungligen planerat. Den ursprungliga, mindre pyramiden hade en enkel nedåtgående korridor och gravkammare, men när den förstorades byggdes en ny korridor med 3 galler och en liten panelkammare. Senare tillkom ännu en gravkammare, tillsammans med ett förråd på en lägre nivå. Denna pyramid, liksom dess 2 grannar, har en norr mot ingången.
Den stora sfinxen, eller som de gamla kände till den, "Shesep Ankh" eller "den levande bilden", måste vara en av de mest igenkännliga konstruktionerna i historien. Tänk på sfinxen och du tänker automatiskt på Egypten och Gizaplatån. Skulpterad av mjuk sandsten, tror många att den skulle ha försvunnit för länge sedan om den inte varit begravd i sanden under så många långa perioder under sin livstid. Kroppen är 60m lång och 20m lång. Dess ansikte är 4 m brett med ögon som mäter 2 m höga. Den vetter mot den uppgående solen och vördades så mycket av de gamla, att de byggde ett tempel framför den.

Excellent tour, Maged and Ahmed were great and extremely helpful. Would book with them again and wholly recommend specifically for tourists who don't speak Arabic. They are very accommodating to our requests like we did or didn't need certain stops and helpful to the vegetarians with us.

- Everything felt scammy, with pushy upselling and constant pressure to agree to additional overpriced add-ons. - The tour offers an early 6 am start, but as soon as I had paid and reached the 24-hour non-cancellation period, the guide tried to change my start time without approval. - I was charged an additional $375. When I asked why, I was told to "reach out to Viator." I politely asked him to fix his own mistake. He was able to reverse the $375 charge, but then I was hit with another $125 charge for “rebooking” the tour. So a $125 tour that I never took ended up costing me $250. I still have not received a refund. - I asked to cancel, but he refused. I was then harassed with 50+ WhatsApp messages and nonstop calls. - He never showed up to give the tour, and I had to find another tour operator on the day of. - I expect his response to this review to claim none of this happened and that I'm somehow at fault. Judge for yourself. I have asked repeatedly for a refund for a service that was never delivered and have received nothing. If you want to roll the dice with this guide, go for it. Just know that you are rolling the dice, and you might lose.
