Denna VIP Shared Shore Excursion till Rom har en upphämtning och avlämning vid kajen, en professionell engelsktalande förare och högst 8 passagerare. Efter en 80-minuters bilresa från piren börjar du din rundtur i Den eviga staden.
Två tusen år av fascinerande historia kommer till liv vid Colosseum, den antika romerska arenan där Gladiatorstriderna ägde rum. Colosseum är en fantastisk teknikprestation och ett vittnesbörd om ingenjörskonsten i det antika Rom.
Konstantinbågen är en av flera triumfbågar i det antika Rom, som sitter på torget strax utanför Colosseum. Dess läge var betydande under antiken, och länkade samman Forum Romanum med de stora underhållnings- och offentliga badkomplexen i centrala Rom.
Circus Maximus var den största arenan i antikens Rom, känd för stridsvagnar (minns du filmen "Ben Hur"?) En långsträckt, elliptisk bana med en central ö, Circus Maximus hade plats för 250 000 personer, en fjärdedel av Roms befolkning i antiken gånger.
Arkeologiska fynd visar att Palatine Hill var bebodd så långt tillbaka som på tionde århundradet f.Kr., men dess glansdagar var på tiden för det romerska imperiet, när detta i princip var Beverly Hills i Rom. Den romerska adeln hade sina hem här, inklusive kejsaren, som kunde titta på stridsvagnarna från sitt palats.
Capitoline Hill är den minsta och viktigaste av det antika Roms sju kullar. Som Roms politiska och religiösa hjärta blev Capitoline Hill en symbol för Roms regeringstid som Caput Mundi, världens huvudstad. Idag kan vi uppskatta den eleganta piazzan designad av Michelangelo under renässansen. Från baksidan av kullen kan du njuta av en otrolig utsikt över Forum Romanum.
Officiellt känd som Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II, det enorma vita marmormonumentet som dominerar Piazza Venezia byggdes som en hyllning till den första kungen i ett förenat Italien, Victor Emmanuel II.
Det magnifika Pantheon byggdes för mer än 1800 år sedan och är fortfarande en påminnelse om det stora romerska riket. Namnet Pantheon syftar på byggnadens ursprungliga funktion som ett tempel för alla gudar. Konstruktionen är känd för sin stiliga kistkupol, ett fantastiskt och mystiskt verk av arkitektur och teknik, med en gigantisk oculus i mitten. OBSERVERA: Att se Pantheon från utsidan är gratis. Tro det eller ej, Trevifontänen matas fortfarande av en gammal akvedukt - Aqua Virgo, byggd 19 f.Kr. Den utarbetade barockfontänen av Bernini, ett mästerverk av mytiska figurer i travertin, är den mest igenkännliga fontänen i världen.
Peterskyrkan ligger tvärs över floden Tibern från Roms historiska centrum. Platsen är högst symbolisk; detta var platsen där Sankt Peter dog som martyr och där han begravdes år 64 e.Kr. Den massiva kyrkan, med sin vackra kupol designad av Michelangelo, rymmer många konstverk, inklusive Michelangelos mest kända Pietà. Vid detta stopp kommer du att ha tid att se kyrkan och piazzan från utsidan; vi kommer inte in i basilikan.
Den grönskande Janiculum Hill är prickad av monument över Garibaldi och hans provisoriska armé, som utkämpade hårda strider i kampen för italiensk enande på denna plats 1849. Den italienska hjälten firas med ett enormt monument på Piazzale Giuseppe Garibaldi, medan hans brasilianskfödde fru, Anita, har sitt eget monument cirka 200 meter bort på Piazzale Anita Garibaldi. Anita dog av malaria, tillsammans med deras ofödda barn, kort efter belägringen.

I can not speak highly enough about Luccio and this experience! We were met at the dockside beside our cruise ship and Luccio brought us to the most amazing viewpoints around Rome. He was able to park right beside all the main attractions that we wanted to visit (the Colosseum, the Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Vatican, the Pantheon and he also brought us to other places that we had never even heard of before) and gave us time to go and look around, meeting us at the car with iced water and air conditioning, which was worth it's weight in gold in 40 degree heat! He was extremely professional and knew every little side street around Rome. He also brought us to a lovely, family-run Italian restaurant for lunch, away from all the other tourists... delicious! I really, really appreciated everything you did for us Luccio, thank you so much! It was a pleasure and a privilege to be shown around your hometown with you.

With Rome’s distance from the port, this small group tour is the way to go! We really enjoyed our day with Federico! He was an excellent driver, showing us “alternate routes” (hee-hee) to many places. He was very knowledgeable about all the sites and Rome’s history without overwhelming us with too many facts and details. His recommendation for lunch was fabulous! We highly recommend taking this tour; we are definitely glad we did!

Experience could have been better. Our driver/guide did not offer any history information and/or didn’t communicate about a location/site until we were practically past it. Didn’t realize we missed a few things around the coliseum until we had left because he wasn’t forthcoming with information. Where he took us for lunch was amazing. Then we were only supposed to be at St. Paul’s cathedral for an hour, he said 2 hours. We didn’t want to wait 2 hours as we just wanted a pic outside, had no interest in going in, but the other group with us did. So, we took and paid for a taxi to take us back to port. Next time we do a tour like this, we will do it with just our group. We spent more time today waiting for the other people in our van than we were at some sites. For what we paid, should have been more accommodating for both groups. This was supposed to be a highlights tour, not a detailed tour of sites.

For this reason, the route, stops, and timing cannot be customized according to one individual traveler’s preferences. As described in the service details, our English-speaking driver provides live commentary onboard during transit between stops. While the driver is not a licensed walking guide and therefore cannot accompany guests on foot at each site, they do provide clear instructions and orientation before guests explore independently. Regarding the stop at St. Peter’s Basilica, the timing at each location may vary slightly depending on traffic, group pace, and operational conditions on the day. Since this was a shared experience, the schedule also needed to accommodate the interests of all participants in the vehicle. We understand that shared tours may not be ideal for travelers seeking a more personalized pace or the flexibility to skip certain stops. In that case, a private tour would indeed be the more suitable option, as it allows full customization of the itinerary and timing based solely on your group’s preferences. Great day with Ricardo. He made sure we got to see all of the highlights. Due to passenger van we could get so much closer than in a bus so less walking to the sites. He was knowledgeable and entertaining.
