Vinprovning, Sloveniens vinhistoria

We did this on the last night of our honeymoon - and it is genuinely delightful! We had visited one of the wine regions and a vineyard a few days prior and had tasted Slovenian wine throughout the trip - but this tasting helped us to understand the full range of Slovenian wine making regions. Our host, Ivana, was everything you would want: knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We got lots of - but not too much! - information, all communicated clearly and passionately. She provided us a map and lists of the wines we drank throughout the night (6+ 1 apertif). She also recommended food pairings. She guided us through the wine and gave us helpful suggestions about the tastings without being pushy, and being always interested to hear our views. The wine was also superb, and we bought two bottles to take home with us. Strongly recommended.

Even though I was the only one there for the tasting, it was lots of fun. I knew very little about Slovenian wines prior to the event, but now I feel like I have a good overview of the country's major wine producing regions and styles. I had the opportunity to taste wines from all over the country and the hostess was always happy to answer questions. If you're interested in learning a lot or even if you just want to taste some great wines, I highly recommend this tasting.

I highly recommend this wine tasting program with Ivana. Whether you are a wine novice or an aficionado, you will learn a lot and, of course, drink great wine and eat delicious food from Slovenia! I had always been rather indifferent to wine so while I was looking forward to trying something new, I wasn't sure what to expect and thought maybe I'd be a bit lost. But in fact, I really enjoyed the whole experience and gained a new appreciation for wine! The gentleman sitting next to me was a wine enthusiast and he too seemed to learn a lot from Ivana. We both asked questions and she clearly knew what she was talking about. In addition to learning about wine in general, Ivana took us through winemaking in Slovenia as well as Slovenian customs, traditions, and history and how they sometimes inform the country's winemaking. It was all genuinely interesting. Ivana is very friendly and professional and made the experience easily accessible and informative to everyone on the wine-enthusiasm spectrum. I may just now be more inclined to explore wine :)

Arrived at the venue and learnt that the host had decided to cancel and left "because there was so few people". So this poor big stupid foreigner lost not only 40USD but also one whole evening which could have been used for much better experiences.

We had wine tasting and dinner. Nice Ivana learned us a lot about Slovenien wine. For at least two hours we tasted 6 different wines and heard about Slovenia. Then dinner, good food and wine.

We did this for my partner’s birthday and it made our day. We learned so many things big and small about wines from our sommelier Ivana, she was super impressive with her knowledge and had a great sense of humor which she shared with us all. The place itself is a beautiful rustic restaurant with pleasant atmosphere and just being there already made me feel very good. The wines and our knowledgeable guide were just the icing on the cake. She introduced us to several bottles, some by smaller producers as well, and all five were delicious. We took a bottle home with us. Highly recommended for a little bit different activity on these summer nights!

We booked the wine tasting with our friends and we all really enjoyed the entire experience. The venue is in a beautiful rustic restaurant in the city center of Ljubljana. We tried 6 Slovenian wines, acommpanied by proisccuto, selection of cheeses, marinated olives and bread. At the very beginning the wine expert educated us on how to taste the wine correctly and was overall very friendly and informative. We booked this about a week prior to event and when we went there the other group that would have been with us had cancelled so we had the entire room to ourselves. Very lucky!

Wow...what else can I say? I have been to several wine tastings in the past but this tasting is truly off the charts. I considered myself to be a slightly above average wine snob but I must say I learned so much in two hours. This is a worthwhile adventure for those that are truly interested in wine...you will not be disappointed.  An excellent activity for adults. Our sommelier (sorry forgot her name) was exceptional, both informative and personable . Took her time to explain everything to us, she seemed very knowledgable but more important she was very friendly and didn't make us feel like we were... well... idiots. lol. We tasted several wines and enjoyed some typical slovenian snacks (proscuitto, cheese, olives).  A most informative experience, and very enjoyable!

We ended up at a private wine workshop with Ivana on a Monday night. She is a terrific teacher, patient and generous, who knows a lot about Slovenian wine and history. Her sideshow further cemented what she was teaching. We enjoyed the varied and delicious wines and the munchies (a number of cheeses and prosciutto with bread). It was a great introduction to Slovenian wine. Thank you, Ivana! We came back and ate at the restaurant two nights later and thoroughly enjoyed our meal, especially the duck paté with honey and truffles and the cheesecake.

We had a wonderful afternoon with the wine expert Ivana! Very interesting presentation, a lot of background knowledge, delicious wines and bites! Definitely recomming this place when you are in Ljubljana, also with bigger groups (we were with 12)!
