Välkommen till Rajarata! (Kungens län eller Kungarnas land) Vi börjar dagen från Vessagiriya Forest Monastery, som är en av de två äldsta buddhistmunkarna som bor på ön. På Vessagiriya kommer gästerna att börja djupdyka i den gamla singalesiska civilisationen med näring från buddhism, jordbruk, konst, arkitektur, handel, internationella relationer och stavningsbindande teknik Marvels och där får du en uppfattning om hur Anuradhapura såg ut i sin gyllene era från dess första början.
Sri Lanka är gömt på sidan av ett stenblocks ansikte vid Ran Masu Uyana (Den kungliga guldfiskparken) inklämt mellan Tissa Wewa och Isurumuniya Rock Temple vid Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka är en unik artefakt av det gamla Sri Lanka som är lokalt känd som "Bawa Chakraya" eller "Sakwala Chakraya.
Sri Maha Bodhi-trädet eller Det heliga Bodhiträdet (ett fikon eller pilträd vetenskapligt känt som Ficus Religiosa) betraktas som den första av de åtta heliga platserna i Anuradhapura. Detta är nedtecknat för att vara den högra grenen av Sri Maha Bodhi-trädet i Bodh Gaya i Indien under vilken asketen Siddhartha uppnådde upplysning, och sändes av kejsar Ashoka genom sin älskade dotter, den buddhistiska nunnan Theri Sanghamitta, på begäran av den singalesiska kungen Devanampiyatissa på 200-talet f.Kr. Norrut eller i det Heliga Bodhiträdet kan vi bevittna en enorm samling av stående granitpelare som har identifierats som den förfallna byggnaden i det gamla Brazenpalatset som en gång tjänade som administrativt centrum för det gamla Maha Vihara-klosterkomplexet som byggdes under ledning av storkung Gamini Abhaya på 200-talet f.Kr., en son till kung Devanampiyatissa. Det var en niovåningsbyggnad med 1000 olika kammare. Namnet Brazen Palce kommer från det faktum att dess tak var halmtak med kopparplattor.
Ruwanveliseya stupa även känd som Ratnamali eller Mahathupa (Th Great Stupa) byggdes under ledning av Great Kind Gamini Abhaya i det andra århundradet f.Kr. Krönikorna beskriver på ett fantastiskt sätt invigningsceremonin av denna Stupa som en stor festival som hölls i Anuradhapura med deltagande av inbjudna gäster även från andra länder som diplomater. Den förstördes dock under Cholainvasionen av 900-talet e.Kr. och restaurerades till sin ursprungliga glans på 1100-talet e.Kr. av kung Parakkramabahu den störste. Då ser vi i alla fall idag den senast restaurerade formen som färdigställdes av Ratnamali Stupa Development Society 1940, det som först initierades av Ven. Naranvita Sumanasara Thero 1873 som han ville återställa den till sin forna glans.
Detta pittoreska par dammar byggda på den låga marken är utan tvekan utsökta exemplar av landskapsarkitektur och naturligtvis ett underbart hydraulsystem som visar inte bara talangerna utan den estetiska känslan hos dessa magnifika människor.
Detta är egentligen något som ett modernt ångbad, men detta var inte bara för att njuta av ångbad med varmt vatten utan av en välutvecklad sinhalesmedicin som presterade på 300-talet e.Kr. och framåt. Där kan vi diskutera hur det fungerade och hur sjuka munkar på Abhayagiriya University botade sina hudsjukdomar.
Där kommer vi återigen att se ett stort granittråg i form av kanotstånd med ett fantastiskt intaglio i Abhayagiriya-klostrets lokaler. Den kinesiske munken Fa-hsien som studerade vid Abhayagiriya-universitetet på 400-talet e.Kr. noterade att det fanns 5000 buddhistiska munkar i klostret och att just detta tråg kunde rymma tillräckligt med ris för ett sådant antal.
Detta är ett av de finaste konstverken i Sri Lanka går tillbaka till omkring 700-talet e.Kr. Och detta mästerverk visar på ett värdefullt sätt den estetiska känslan hos de gamla hantverkarna och hur otroligt de har omsatt sin kunskap, förmåga, talanger, känslor i praktiken.
Detta är populärt känd som Eth-Pokuna för lokalbefolkningen eller Elefantdammen på engelska, som ligger sydväst om Refectory är kanske den största Man made damm i Asien som byggdes på 200-talet e.Kr. Det sägs att detta är tre gånger större än en modern olympisk simbassäng. Miraklet här är inte bara dess enorma storlek utan de underjordiska ledningarna som fortfarande fungerar och har försett dammen med vatten från närliggande reservoarer och i sydvästra hörnet kan vi notera en cisternsluss som antyder att vatten distribuerades till andra relativt mindre dammar i närheten som skildrar de forntida singalesiska ingenjörskunskaperna.
Månstenen är en annan vacker och hisnande skapelse av den antika skulptören. Den fungerar som en dörrmatta vid foten av en trappa till en buddhistisk helgedom, men skulptören förvandlar den till ett konstverk långt framstående.

We had a very nice morning with Lucky! Our son of 1.5 years came with us and therefore some flexibility was needed from Lucky. That was no problem at all! Lucky has a lot of knowledge and is extremely enthusiastic. I also found his realistic and down-to-earth view of Buddhism fascinating. He is absolutely recommended as a tour guide!

Lucky took us through the most interesting monastries and ruïnes and told passionatly about budhism and it’s history. Lucky had been a guide since 12 years and knows a lot about Budhism. Overall is was a very fun experience and I learned a lot from Lucky!

I had an outstanding guided tour in Anuradhapura and can highly recommend it. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history of the ancient city. His understanding of archaeology, architecture, and Buddhist philosophy was impressive, and he explained everything in a structured, engaging way.
