Upplev Mylapore: Enriching Walking Trail Tour

Under denna promenad kommer du att besöka templet tillsammans med vår kunniga guide. Vi kommer också att gå igenom de omgivande områdena, där du kan se Mylapore i allt sitt trånga kaos. Smyckarna, silkeshandlarna, frukt- och grönsaksförsäljare och blomstersäljare i basarerna ger en färgstark bakgrund till templet. Vandringen tar oss genom små körfält med gammaldags hem, genom silkeaffärer, butiker som säljer musik och religiösa memorablia, "kutcheri" -salonger etc. Besök Kapaleeshwara-templet, Santhome-kyrkan och gå genom Mylapores byar under denna 3-timmars tur. Turnén är oftast till fots med en kort sträcka i en auto-rickshaw (lokal tuk-tuk) som arrangeras och ingår i turnén och det slutar med sydindiska förfriskningar.

Mylapore är - och har på något sätt alltid varit - det religiösa och kulturella epicentret för det tamilska folket. Byn Mylapore pre-dates Chennai. Ett stort strand tempel dedikerade till Shiva stod en gång vid denna gamla blomstrande hamn, tills portugisiska anlände i mitten av sextonde århundradet. De förstörde templet, skapade en portugisisk koloni på stranden och drev Mylapore-kusten, där den fortfarande står idag. Shiva-templet byggdes för 300 år sedan och kallas Kapaleeswara-templet. Det är ett bra exempel på den rena dravidianstilen, med gopuramer och mandapammer, och är epicentret runt vilket Mylaporeområdet är byggt. San Thome kyrka, även känd som St. Thomas Cathedral Basilica och International Shrine of Saint Thomas är en romersk katolsk minor basilika i Santhome, i staden Chennai, Indien. I slutet av turnén slutar vi på den populära Saravana Bhavan för mellanmål och kaffe.
