Filipe was an excellent guide and was very knowledgeable about the university and its history. We had a small group (only 5 of us) and it was a great experience. He made sure to answer all of our questions and also was kind enough to provide us with some recommendations for restaurants and bars in the area. I would definitely recommend this experience for anyone looking to have a more in depth visit to the university.
Felipe was a former student and then employed by the University so he had a lot of personal knowledge. It was just us and another couple. His English was excellent and he did not mind questions. The old campus is beautiful and I found the history very interesting. School has not started for the year so we saw only a few students in their cloaks. It is forbidden to take pictures inside the library but it was unbelievable. You expect house elves to come out and shelve books
If you’re looking to have the in’s-and-outs tour of the old university then choose this! Our tour guide was a student here so he definitely was the right one to give the tour. Detailed and on time!
Coimbra university was an enjoyable and worthwhile tour. The library and chapel were beautiful and our guide was knowledgable interesting. We would recomm the tour.
Brilliant tour of the university! Our guide Renan was engaging and knowledgable. We learned about the long history of the university, which predates Portugal! He was able to provide an excellent background on each aspect of the tour: the palace, student jail, royal portraits, the beautiful chapel and library. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and especially the enthusiasm of our guide! Highly recommended!
The guide was clear and understandable in its English. We got a lot of knowledge about the place.

our travel agent set us up with a guide for this tour. it was fascinating. So, not only is it a university with kids running around in robes like Hogwarts but it is also a palace and museum. On top of it, the library is fascinating, as was the chapel. They were playing the organ when we were there. There seemed to be a question about whether we really wanted to do this tour and I dont know why because, it was a great experience!
Amazing tour! Was great to have tickets and entry coordinated and our guide Filipe was very knowledgeable and had great local recommendations too!
