Det är ett rektangulärt forum omgivet av ruinerna av flera viktiga gamla regeringsbyggnader i centrum av staden Rom. Medborgare i den antika staden kallade detta utrymme, ursprungligen en marknadsplats, som Forum Magnum, eller helt enkelt Forum.
Det är ett annat sällsynt exempel på ett välbevarat romerskt monument. Den är intakt eftersom den förvandlades till ingången till kyrkan Saints Cosma och Damiano, som fortfarande fungerar idag
Det var residenset för Vestal Virgins, beläget bakom det cirkulära templet Vesta vid den östra kanten av Forum Romanum, mellan Regia och Palatinen. Domus publica, där Pontifex Maximus bodde, låg nära Atrium tills den rollen antogs av kejsarna.
Dess ruiner ligger vid foten av Capitoline Hill i den västra änden av Forum Romanum. Den ursprungliga invigningen av templet är traditionellt daterad till 497 f.Kr., men forntida författare var mycket oense om historien om denna plats.

Det är ett torg i centrala Rom mellan Via dei Fori Imperiali och Via Claudia. Det ligger på gränsen mellan distrikten rione Monti, Campitelli och Celio. Torget kan nås från tunnelbanestationen Colosseo på linjen B i Roms tunnelbana.
Byggd år 315 e.Kr. och uppmärksammad av sina trippelbågar, firar denna struktur Konstantins seger över Maxentuis.

It was nice to get a tour with a guide so we could get more detailed history on the colosseum, palatine hill and the forum. Even though it was hot, it was tolerable. The guide kept us in the shade as much as possible. Lots of opportunities to get water or refill and take bathroom breaks.
Lorenzo was great! Very informative and friendly and told everything like a story. Really enjoyed this tour!
Our Guide, Dennis, was excellent! Tour was interesting and fun! It was hot but our Guide knew exactly where to stop for shade & water & to tell us more about what we were seeing! Highly recommend!
On what may have been the hottest day of the summer to date, Rocco was able to guide us safely through the entire tour of the Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum. He knew his audience and was witty and kind as he dropped jokes that had us all chuckling. Two of our group members were having challenges with the heat so he found them a place to sit in the shade while the rest of the group went up the hill. We reconnected with them and were able to continue on to the Colosseum. There is so much to see at this historic site and having a guide helped us focus our attentions rather than get overwhelmed by the magnitude of things to see! We saw details that we otherwise would have missed and learned so much about the various sites. We would highly recommend to anyone!

We booked this tour and late the night before the tour we received a message to say that the tour guide had a medical emergency and would not be able to run the tour. The next morning they sent entry tickets that would give us independent access into the colosseum. When we went though security after a long wait in the queue, they said that the tickets had been already used by someone else entering that morning. Apparently third party operators are doing this all the time. We were refused entry and totally missed out on the Colosseum. :( Fortunately Viator did refund our money.
We had an incredibly knowledgeable tour guide that highlighted many areas of the tour. Our only disappointment was the crowds this time of year in July and the fact our 9:15 am time was changed last minute to 2 pm. In the heat of summer we booked early for a reason but no compensation was offered for the inconvenience.
We were late and Donatella provided great information enabling us to meet her inside the very busy Roman Forum and join the tour from there. The tour itself was fantastic!

We started our day with a small group tour of the Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colleseo. Our exceptional, knowledgeable and humorous guide Paolo (sp?) really made the experience for us. Do yourself a favor and take this tour and ask for Paolo!
