Din rundtur på denna otroliga arkeologiska plats börjar precis bredvid parkeringsplatsen, där vägen till ruinerna börjar. Härifrån följer du helt enkelt denna stig för att upptäcka en gammal, fascinerande ruin. OBS: Turen är över 1,5 miles lång, med mer än 28 ljudberättelser, och tar ca 1 - 2 timmar att slutföra. Nytt, livstidsåtkomst, ingen utgång. Använd den när som helst, på vilken resa som helst, så många gånger du vill.
Det första stora landmärket du kommer att stöta på är Casa Cenote. Du går genom entrén och befinner dig i en helt annan värld.
Till vänster om oss står Platforma Funeraria, där de gamla mayaborna genomförde sina begravningsriter. Innan en kropp begravdes eller kremerades, placerade mayafolket majs i munnen. Detta fungerade som mat för deras resa till nästa värld, men representerade också liv och återfödelse.
Det är omöjligt att missa nästa stopp, El Castillo. Stående på 40 fot byggdes slottet för att hedra Mayaguden Kukulkan och står på den högsta höjden i Tulum, vilket gör den redan imponerande strukturen ännu mer slående.
När du fortsätter att gå kommer du att se freskertemplet, känt för sina detaljerade målningar av olika mayagudar.
Sedan besöker du Vindens tempel, en av de mest intressanta strukturerna i Tulum. Templet ligger på toppen av en klippa och byggdes för att fungera som en varning för annalkande stormar. De runda plattformarna som syns här indikerar att detta är ett tempel för Vindguden.
Mayaarkitekturens geni återspeglas i denna byggnad, The House of Chultun. Här såg uttag av regnvatten till att människorna i Tulum hade tillräckligt med färskvatten för alla sina behov. Byggnaden är uppbyggd på ett sätt så att regnvatten rinner ut i magasinet.
Om du tittar noga kan du se att det finns ett intrikat nät av hål i templet. När orkanvindar blåser från Karibien börjar hålen vissla högt och fungerar som ett effektivt varningssystem.
Fortsätt nu förbi perrongen och stanna framför ruinerna av ett hus till höger. Det här är Casa del Noreste, eller Northwest House. Detta hus skulle ha varit hem för viktiga medlemmar av mayasamhället.
Det finns nischade figurer av Maya "Descending God" eller Venus som är framträdande över templets huvudfasad och återspeglar arbetet av hantverkare från Mayatiden. Den "nedstigande guden" manifesteras som en stuckaturfigur på den västra väggen i templet som ligger i centrala området av platsen, vilket ger templet dess namn som "den nedstigande gudens tempel".

First off got scammed by a chicklet toothed local. Wouldn't accept the ticket we purchased so we had to drive back go the area we purchased it at. Eventually we got into the park. After hearing how “beautiful” it was I had a bit of hope…. NOPE! Totally desolate unkept area. Absolutely zero effort into making it a complete gem( which is an total loss to the country) not sure why there is so much garbage and unkept areas in a place that could be majestic!
This review appears to be unrelated to my self-guided audio tour product. My Tulum Mayan Ruins GPS Walking Audio Tour is a digital audio guide, and it does not include park entry, ticket validation, or interaction with local vendors. Your comments focus on issues with a local person, ticket acceptance, and the condition of the Tulum site itself, but do not mention the audio, narration, route guidance, app functionality, or overall tour experience. Because of this, it seems the review is about the attraction and third-party entry issues rather than my tour. I’m also not able to locate a booking under this name. If you did use my tour, I would genuinely like to hear about your experience with it.
Good app and easy to download. We found it best to download when we had wifi and then log out of it (even switch off the phone to remove the blue quick open button top left) so that it didn’t use up all our battery power. Best to take a separate power bank in case your phone runs low. Sometimes the section didn’t play, probably more to do with us not being in the right spot, but easy enough to just click on the list and tap it manually. Really liked the voice of the narrator and the helpful photos.

This is an excellent option as you can go at your own pace. Since it tracks your location, the narration keeps quiet and lets you go off-route and stay as long as you want at different spots. It starts with the narration when you return to the route. People who went with guides felt rushed through the tour because the human guide wanted to be done and get back to the start to meet other groups.

This app was a great find! Lots of interesting info and a good intro to Mayan history and culture, before and after encounter with the Spanish. Allows you to explore at your own pace and really enjoy the ruins and the scenic location. In my view, the best way to explore Tulum ruins! Ppl kept asking us where we got the app!

I highly recommend this app! In my opinion, this is the best way to explore the Tulum ruins. The app gives you a good introduction to Mayan history and culture before and after encounter with the Spanish, and gives you details about each spot in the ruins. The audio description pops up as you approach the next stop on the map. If it doesn’t, it’s easy to pull up the map and see where you are then click on the appropriate description. Allows you to explore at your own pace at a great price!
