Vi inbjuder dig att upptäcka en stad som har behållit sin tydliga identitet i mer än 400 år: Afrikas lilla hörn i Colombia. Här är tiden det tar att ta sig från en plats till en annan Du kommer att lära dig historien om det första fria folket i Amerika. Du kommer att få kontakt med förfäder och Palenque de Benkos Biohós afrikanska rötter (grundare av Palenque). Njut av dansshowen, lär dig deras traditionella danssteg och spela trummor. Upphämtningen av gäster som bor i den muromgärdade staden är kl. 08:00 i klocktornet, de som bor i stadsdelarna Bocagrande, Castillo Grande och laguito pickup är mellan 08:20 och 08:45, kunder som bor i stadsdelarna Marbella, Cabrero, Crespo och Cielo Mar eller något hotell i norr och havsäpple pickup från 08:50 till 09:30.Kunder som bor i Manga måste anlända kl. 08:00 vid klocktornet. Kunderna till hotell i Manzanillo del Mar kommer att hämtas kl 8:30 i en bil som kommer att ta dem ut ur byn och ta dem till Cartagena för att möta dem med Guiden. Vi hämtar inte på hotell som ligger i Barú eller utanför staden Cartagena.

Palenque was my absolute favorite part of my trip! Romeo was so funny, informative and clear. It was helpful that he spoke several languages and he even taught us some of the Palenque lengua. The activities were varied and each one so special. Also love that all of the money is for the community and the youth to stay and remain a part of their home instead of having to leave to survive. The total trip was about 7hrs or so including travel time. Just know that it is HOT!! There are lots of opportunities for hydration but just know you will sweat. The unique experience def makes up for any discomfort tho. Absolutely worth the money too. HIGHLY recommend!

The Tour de Palenque was an incredible experience and absolutely worth every dollar. For the $100 cost of the tour, I truly feel you get great value for what’s included. Just keep in mind that it takes about 1.5 hours to get there and about 1.5 hours back, and the tour itself lasts around 2–3 hours, so this is essentially an all-day experience. Be prepared—you will sweat a little because of the heat, but it is completely worth it. The tour group was the perfect size—around 25 people max—which felt intimate enough to enjoy while still being social and engaging. The people in Palenque were incredibly warm, welcoming, and kind. You can truly feel the pride they have in their culture, community, and history. This is a guided cultural tour, so come ready to learn and appreciate the powerful story behind this historic place. The lunch was absolutely amazing. I had the local Colombian fish, and it was outstanding—rich in spices and flavor without being spicy. It was seasoned beautifully, and they also offer it fried if that’s more your style. One thing to know: buying gifts or souvenirs directly supports the local economy, so if you can, I highly recommend purchasing something from the local vendors. It’s a meaningful way to support the community while taking home something special. I loved the area, the energy, and the history behind it all. I left with a much deeper appreciation for Palenque’s significance and resilience. I already can’t wait to come back—next time I’m definitely bringing a friend or two so they can experience this rich history for themselves.

Romeo was an excellent tour guide for our Palenque tour. He and the other guides were very knowledgeable about their history, and I really liked how they made it interactive with the audience. The dance performance by the school and the lunch we had was excellent also.

Great experience with Romeo and his excellent team of tour guides. Friendly, funny, informative... this was an incredible experience for all of us who represent different aspects of the Diaspora to see Palenque and exactly how much of African culture is preserved!!!!
I loved everything about this tour. From the history to the food, everything was amazing. If you’re thinking about booking this tour, do it !
This was a nice experience, from Romero our tour guide to the welcome dance from the Palenque residents to the lunch (so good!) I would say be sure to bring cash/pesos along with you to tip dancers or if you’re wanting to buy street drinks/food. We went to the city’s wellness center which was really nice except when it came time for a ritual on bracelets (I’m a Christian and chose not to partake) but other than that the people there and the culture/experience was really nice
This is a must if you’re visiting Cartagena. The community of Palenque is beautiful and the residents are friendly and welcoming. We stopped at several places and learned a lot of about their history. The food was amazing as well. 10/10, I’ll do it again.
