Denna unika 2-dagars tur är en guidad rundtur i 11 monolitiska kyrkor huggna ur sten på 1100-talet. Dessa kyrkor i Lalibela byggdes som ett nytt Jerusalem när Jerusalem var oåtkomligt. Besökare kommer att hämtas på flygplatsen, släppas av på sitt hotell för lunch på egen hand och sedan tas till den norra gruppen av kyrkor följt av ett museumbesök. Den andra dagen börjar med en 42 kilometer resa till Yimrehane Krestos kyrka byggd i en grotta. Denna vackra kyrka byggd av trä och sten föregår de klipphuggna kyrkorna i Lalibela med åttio år. På baksidan av den grottan kan man se några av de århundraden gamla mumifierade resterna av 5 500 pilgrimer. En by i närheten är valfri då besökaren återvänder till Lalibela för lunch på sitt hotell och eftermiddagsturen i det sydöstra klyftan av kyrkor och Bet Giyorgis (St. George) konstruerad för att hedra St. George, skyddshelgon i Etiopien. Upphämtning sker följande morgon efter frukost för transfer till flygplatsen.

An amazing place. Unique in many ways. Worth going there anytime, but Timket is best. Colourful, music and singing, the tradition, the history, the UNESCO class architecture. Plus the market and the little climbing to the monastery at 3000 m!

Before arriving in Lalibela, I met an Ethiopian guide who told me that one day would be enough to see the place. But that wasn’t true at all.
