Denna privata Meteora-tur från Aten till UNESCOs heliga kloster i de klippiga bergen i Meteora-området är en minnesvärd tur! De hisnande Meteora-klipporna bildades för 60 miljoner år sedan. Idag är en del av Natura 2000-nätverket. Det finns sex kloster på Meteora: Great Meteoron, Varlaam, Roussanou, Agios Stefanos, Holy Trinity och St. Nicholas. Du kommer att besöka 2 eller 3 av klostren, beroende på vilken dag och tid vi besöker. Klostren har anor från 1300-talet och är unika i världen på grund av den fantastiska skatten av bysantinska och kristna föremål som du kan bevittna. Föremål som munkarnas klassiska klädsel, eleganta målningar och etsat glas. 1981 spelades James Bond-filmen "For Your Eyes Only" delvis in i klostret Holy Trinity. Nästa stopp ett besök på Thermopylae Museum där kung Leonidas och hans 300 kämpade mot perserna. Vårt sista stopp är vid kustbyn Kammena Vourla där vi bjuder på eftermiddagskaffe eller te vid havet.

Meteora är en klippformation i centrala Grekland som är värd för ett av de största och mest brant byggda komplexen av östortodoxa kloster, näst viktigast efter berget Athos. Klädkod är viktig när du besöker klostren på Meteora: kvinnor måste täcka sina axlar och bära en lång skjorta, män kan inte bära shorts. Vid ingången till varje kloster finns kjolar och långa halsdukar tillgängliga gratis;
Thermopylae (Thermopiles) är världsberömd för slaget där 300 spartaner, ledda av kung Leonidas, gjorde sitt berömda ställningstagande mot de persiska inkräktarna i augusti 480 f.Kr. Vi kommer att besöka, det innovativa centret för historisk information, etablerat för att bevara minnet av det historiska slaget och förklara detaljerna i denna konflikt.

Our tour to Meteora with Petros was one of the highlights of our time in Athens. This is an amazing place and a must do. The countryside of Greece is so very different from Athens even the drive was beautiful. Petros is an experienced and professional driver; he filled our drive with interesting, insightful and peaceful conversation but was also sensitive to give us rest and quiet when needed. With Petros as our driver it was not necessary to have a guide to take us into the monasteries. He even shared several recipes with me after we returned. I will definitely book with Athens Premier Tours and Transfers on future trips to Athens and I will be looking for Petros. This is a must do!l and a great value both in terms of money and time. Amazing tour. The pictures are are not even close to the actual view. It was worth it. Our driver, Yannis, was wonderful. The day started with him picking us up in a luxury vehicle at our Airbnb and it ended with h dropping us off at the same location. He had a lot of information about what we went to see. The ride to the location was beautiful. I loved this experience. Worth the money.

The whole experience was very memorable starting with the drive, the three monasteries we visited, the beautiful mountain/rock formation culminating with a seaside late afternoon seafood dinner. Our driver was great, very knowledgeable on Greek culture and history, made the drive very enjoyable.
