Learning about the various aspects of Japanese teas has always been something I’ve wanted to do. The rich history of tea farmers and their methods of picking the tea leafs in the fields is a true art. With that, on my visit to Tokyo Japan, finding a tour and/or someone who was both knowledgeable and had real life experiences in this area was my goal. Working through Viator tours, I found Kakuno (Kaku). The tour started off with a short but simple meditation session, which was relaxing and much needed. We then watched a series of slides on a screen detailing the tea cultivation process and discussed the origin and the plight of the tea farmers over the years. During the slide presentation we had the opportunity to made our own cold and hot teas (5) different ways, which, we throughly enjoyed. Kaku was a pleasant man with a wealth of knowledge and experience, which he shared with us making this experience an enjoyable one. This tour met all my expectations and I would definitely recommend it if your curious and wanting to know about the history of Japanese teas, and the important role the Japanese tea farmers have had in the process over the years
