Tijucaskogen representerar en av de största naturskatterna i staden Rio de Janeiro. Byggd i början av 1900-talet för att hedra den kinesiska och importerade teodling i Brasilien, erbjuder monumentet Vista Chinesa ett brett panorama full av grön i den södra delen av Rio. Leden har enkel åtkomst och är helt asfalterad, vilket leder till utkik på en krävande, brant stigning, men det lönar sig med en av de vackraste toppar i stan!
Från 1856 var den botaniska trädgården ansluten till Alto de Boa Vista med en cantilevered väg, öppnad av inflytande av Baron of Bom Retiro och vars genomförande och underhåll var kontrakt till Thomas Cochrane. Det registrerar tidsåldern att i detta arbete arbetade arbetare "cules" som kom från Kina (Macau) för att utveckla risgrödan, men som inte visat sig någon jordbruksförmåga, användes för att bygga vägen. Denna region presenterar en förbluffande slump med kinesisk närvaro, börjat med ankomsten av teplantagerna av D. João VI. Efter den här grödans misslyckande, enligt Brasilien Gerson, skulle kineserna ha spridit "genom blöjorna i Tijuca". År 1844 registrerar en karta över området en byggnad som heter "Casa dos Chinas", förmodligen en kvarleva av denna primitiva upplevelse. Detta "kall" förklarar förmodligen varför stadshuset (borgmästare Pereira Passos 1903, med ett projekt av arkitekt Luis Rey, i murbrukskopiering av bambu) byggde en paviljong som kallades "Vista Chinesa", några år senare, som fortfarande kan besökas. Ovan har en plats som är beredd att tjäna som viloplats på de täta promenaderna av den kungliga familjen fått namnet på kejsarens tabell.
År 1860 beställdes ingenjören Job de Alcântara av den kejserliga regeringen att bygga den vackra stenbroen, i romersk båtformat, som står framför Taunay Cascatinha. Den högsta PNT-vattenfallet bildas av vattnet i Tijucafloden, Condefloden och andra bifloder. År 1817 byggde konstnären Nicolas Antoine Taunay ett litet hus nära cascatinha och förtrollande, odödade skönheten i vattenfallet i sina bilder. Han blev skogens stora värd, organiserade möten för domstolen. Taunays hus slogs i 1946. På platsen byggdes den gamla restaurangen Cascatinha, som för närvarande förbereds och renoveras för att hysa ett café och en ny restaurang.
Parque Lage ligger i stadsdelen Jardim Botânico, i södra Rio de Janeiro, nära attraktioner som Jardim Botânico och Cristo Redentor. Med en yta på 52 hektar skog är utrymmet omgivet av Atlantskogen och är en del av Tijuca National Park.

A great spot for an quiet view of Rio. So many places in Rio to visit, this one is a bit of a hidden gem, worth the visit. Really enjoyed my time in Rio, one of the nicest and most interesting cities I have visited! Will return
Brilliant tour guide, very knowledgeable, great English, friendly and kind. Privet tour was very good he gave time to see things how we wanted without rush. Was a treat to see many different animals including monkey and birds. Definitely recomme.

The tour Tijuca Forest we visit the National Tijuca Forest by jeep, vista Chinese and Cascatinha Taunay Waterfall the guide Rafael Robaina very knowledgeable of history and driver Euclides the best driver even up and down those curves road was amazing outstanding and very knowledgeable of history and safe was first doing this trip. I highly recommend this tour. Just we had time to drip in water but weather was so good to take a drip. But tour was amazing. The church areas is higher than the Sugarloaf point. We Love it.
There is no zero stars allowed. We have used Viator a lot across the world and this is the first time that the tour operator did not turn up, message us or acknowledge our messages. I hope that all is well but my advice is simple - DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR OR USE THIS OPERATOR! This spoilt our last day in Rio.
First all I am sorry for this inconvinience. I never had this problem in 10 years of work. I believe you have booked the tour for all 5 stars reviews you have read. Unfornatelly I had a problem with our google calendar that have changed your tour for other date, instead of the right one. It never happened before and We made changes in our system working now with two calendars. it is important mention that after explain you what happened by message we fastly have Refunded your money back. The tour was great. First a trip to Palácio - Parque Lage. Great place for photos with Christ the redeemer on the mountain behind. Then on to Tijuca Forest. Great waterfalls and wildlife. Best of all Ederson was great guide. Engaging and enthusiastic. He had great knowledge of the area and history. He was brilliant at ensuring we got the most from the tour and keen to notice what we were interested in and adapt to our needs. Would highly recommend Ederson - he made the tour great.

Great tour, Ederson made sure to show us all the parts of the rainforest and made sure we were comfortable! We got to see an extra waterfall that wasn’t on the original list. Highly recommend!

So move on! When I see the other comments they must have gone through an excellent guide because we saw nothing of what the others showed in the comments. We saw a waterfall and a view and were shown around a dilapidated building that supposedly is a museum. Don't waste your time!
My husband and I loved this 1/2 day tour. He was so knowledgeable and let us spend as much time as we wanted at each spot thru the Tijuca Forest. The highlights were Parque Lage ( he walked us through the awesome forest & had a drink in the gorgeous old mansion) , the Chinese lookout had the most amazing view and we got to watch about 20 monkeys swinging thru the trees, Emperor's lookout, and the Cascatinha waterfall were all so beautiful!! Our tour guide was such a great guy, we had a blast!!! 😊

This was a great trip. Ederson was a brilliant guide. Very knowledgeable and very pleasant. We visited all the main spots in Tijuca and also went to Parque Lage. Was lucky to see some Toucans as well. Highly recommend this tour and this company.
