En dagstur från Aten för att se Thermopylae och Delphi är en oförglömlig upplevelse. Denna heldagstur börjar med att köra norrut från Aten, vi anländer till Thermopylae, det historiska Thermopylae-passet där striden ägde rum mellan perserna och spartanerna. Vårt nästa stopp kommer att vara den heliga platsen i Delphi med dess Apollontemplet. Delphi är en UNESCO-erkänd arkeologisk plats som är bland Greklands mest ikoniska platser. Leonidas var en kung av den grekiska stadsstaten Sparta och den 17:e av Agiad-linjen, en dynasti som gjorde anspråk på härkomst från den mytologiska halvguden Herakles och Cadmus. Leonidas var son till kung Anaxandridas II. Han efterträdde sin halvbror kung Kleomenes I till tronen 489 f.Kr. Leonidas hade ett anmärkningsvärt deltagande i det andra persiska kriget, där han ledde de allierade grekiska styrkorna till en sista ställning vid slaget vid Thermopylae (480 f.Kr.) samtidigt som han försökte försvara passet från den invaderande persiska armén; han dog i slaget och gick in i myten som ledare för de 300 spartanerna. Medan grekerna förlorade denna strid kunde de driva ut de persiska inkräktarna året därpå.
Bredvid monumentet Leonidas, i den historiska Thermopylae, ligger Lamia kommuns innovativa museum, tillägnat slaget 480 f.Kr. som förändrade den grekiska historiens gång.
Slaget vid Thermopylae utkämpades mellan en allians av antika grekiska stadsstater, ledd av kung Leonidas I av Sparta, och det Achaemenidiska riket av Xerxes I. Det utkämpades 480 f.Kr. under loppet av tre dagar, under den andra persiska invasionen av Grekland.

Tholos of Delphi är bland de gamla strukturerna i helgedomen Athena Pronaia i Delfi. Det cirkulära templet, en tholos, delar den omedelbara platsen med andra antika grunder av Athena Pronaias tempel, alla belägna mindre än en mil öster om huvudruinerna i Delfi, i den moderna grekiska regionala enheten Phocis. Tholos är en del av Delphi UNESCO:s världsarvslista.
Delphi Archaeological Museum är ett av Greklands främsta museer och ett av de mest besökta. Det drivs av det grekiska kulturministeriet. Det grundades 1903 och har omarrangerats flera gånger och rymmer upptäckterna som gjordes vid den panhelleniska helgedomen i Delfi, som dateras från den sena helladiska (mykenska) perioden till den tidiga bysantinska eran. Museet är organiserat i fjorton rum på två nivåer och visar huvudsakligen statyer, inklusive den berömda Charioteer of Delphi, arkitektoniska element, som frisen från Siphnian Treasury, och ex-votos tillägnad helgedomen Pythian Apollo, som sfinxen på Naxos.
Apollontemplet, gud för musik, harmoni, ljus, helande och orakel intog den viktigaste och mest framträdande positionen i Delphic Panhellenic Sanctuary. Byggnaden med den delvis restaurerade pelargången som är synlig idag dateras till 1900-talet f.Kr. och enligt gamla berättelser byggdes fem olika tempel genom historien. Det berömda oraklet, Pythia, verkade inne i templet, den plats som enligt en tradition valts på grund av en helig klyfta under platsen som avgav ångor, som inhalerades av Pythia.

This was an amazing experience and Chris was an extraordinary guide. The personalized trip was what made it so amazing. He had so much history and knowledge that we talked the whole trip. Seeing Thermopylae and Delphi were great, and the lunch was extraordinary over the view of the valley accompanied by amazing food!!! we had time to shop in Delphi, and I bought the authentic jewelry handmade in Greece. It was a beautiful day and would highly recommend!!!

Chris was truly wonderful. He was a great driver with lots of great insights and Greek knowledge. I loved this trip and would do it again. The car was comfortable and clean. The sites were amazing. He stopped several times for us to take pictures. We ate lunch in the town of Delphi in a small local restaurant with delicious food. It was truly an unforgettable experience. It was a beautiful and very significant and perfect day for us. The first stop was the Thermopylae, which was very emotional for my husband and me. If one is interested in Greek history, the Thermopylae and the King Leonidas monument are simply a must-see. Unfortunately, the historical significance is often portrayed as less important to the uninformed, which is not the case at all. Therefore, it was all the more important for us that when we traveled to Delphi, the Thermopylae were a must. After that, we went to the museum in Delphi. It was truly indescribable and very, very interesting. It is definitely worth a visit. Following the visit to the museum, one can view the temple ruins. Our driver Chris was very friendly, helpful, and drove us safely and comfortably. We felt completely comfortable and very safe. For that, we extend our heartfelt thanks once again. We can highly recommend everything.

Nikos was a great guide! Safe and efficient driver, gave us lots of great info to learn on the trip. Thermopylae is a short stop- and that’s all it needs to be. Most time spent in Delphi which was so beautiful. Lunch was amazing with incredible food and views of the vista! Loved this day and so glad someone else drove us so we could relax!

This was an excellent experience to Delphi. George Remoundos was our driver, and he did an excellent job of making us feel safe and welcome. I appreciated the insights given, including recommendations for dinner after our tour concluded. The pace for our tour was perfect, and never felt rushed. The lunch location was beautiful, delicious, and a good value. I traveled with my wife and two teenage boys, and we all had a wonderful time. Would recommend getting out of the city to experience the countryside, and this was a pleasant means of doing so.
