I would highly discourage anyone from using this tour service. We waited at our hotel for the tour guide and he never showed up. We spent 20-30 minutes trying to contact the guide and the line was busy. Finally our hotel concierge was able to locate the owner who claimed he had no reservation. None of this made any sense since payment had already been issued to the owner of the company and in fact to receive a refund the owner needed to release the money. How can the owner be unaware of a reservation when they have received the funds and we received confirmation emails. I have used Viator for many years and countless trips and have never had a tour guide no show. Stay away from this company and I suggest Viator drop them.

While I'm always a bit skeptical to follow the lead of online reviews for a tour like this, I'm so glad I did. Everyone raved about their experience with One on the Hill. They were not wrong. Pier picked us up at our hotel and created the most amazing day for us. He is incredibly personable, kind, and knowledgeable. We got a sneak peek into two wonderful wineries along with tastings and lots of time spent with the winery owners. If you're on the fence about a curated tour, jump off and sign up for this one. It was definitely the highlight of our entire trip!

We had an amazing day exploring the Langhe region. Our guide Giorgio was so friendly and knowledgeable. He told us all about the region's history and wine-making tradition. They planned the trip exactly as we requested, visiting two family-run small wineries with lunch in the middle. The first was a Barbaresco winery, Giuseppe Cortese, where we toured the facility and sampled 6 or 7 of their incredible wines. We stopped for lunch at a wonderful restaurant, Le Torri, in Castiglione Falletto. The view was beautiful and the food was excellent. Next we stopped at a Barolo winery, Fratelli Revello, in La Morra, where we toured their facility and sampled 6 or 7 of their outstanding wines. Giorgio picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. I would 100% recommend using Oneonthehill. This was a 10 out of 10 experience, and all that I hoped for. I should also add that we were traveling with our 18 year old daughter who is new to wine, so Giorgio was kind enough to keep the conversation interesting for her, while at the same time, giving me all of the details I wanted about the wine of the Piemonte region. Also, for a fee, Pier with Oneonthehill will handle shipping the wine home for you.

We highly recommend this tour. Pier asked us to tell about ourselves and our wine preferences. With this in mind, Nic planned an amazing tour with 4 wineries and 2 lunches over the 2 days, including Barberas, Barolos, Barbarescos, and other interesting Nebbiolos. We visited small producers, wines we cannot taste in the US. Each was unique. It was difficult to narrow the selections for what we shipped home.

We had an amazing day with Pier visiting couple of wineries in Barbaresco and Barolo! We learned so much about the terroir , the grapes and the dedication and hard work of the local families ( in some cases dating back centuries ) Great wine and great people!! Thank you Pier for the wonderful time!!

Excellent private tour. Giorgio is very friendly, passionate and rich in wine knowledge and region history. The tour was relax, no pressure of timing and felt we were touring with a friend. I highly recommand. Thank you Giorgio.

Our guide did a fantastic job striking a balance between wine education and beautiful views. We visited two wineries and had lunch at a restaurant recommended by our guide. The aspects preventing a 5-star review are that there was a quality gap between the two wineries we visited and lunch wasn't included. Overall, I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Piedmont who wants a guided experience.

We had an amazing time on our private wine tour! Nik was a fantastic sommelier—knowledgeable, engaging, and incredibly informative throughout the day. We visited two local wineries and enjoyed private tastings at each, with a wonderful lunch at a charming little bistro in between. We ended up purchasing wine from both wineries, and One On The Hill coordinated the shipping back to the U.S. for us, which made the process so easy. Our wine arrived today, and we’re enjoying a glass as we write this! Thank you for helping make our winter trip to Italy such a memorable experience. We truly appreciate the care and attention that went into planning such a special day.

My friends and I had an excellent tour of Piemonte’s Barolo and Barbaresco wine regions on January 6 with Giovanni of One On The Hill who was a gracious, friendly and low key guide for our day. Giovanni is an excellent winemaker in Piemonte his own right and led us to two excellent family-owned wineries in the region. We gained deeper knowledge about Piemonte’s wine region, plus we tasted some incredible wines. One On The Hill also arranged for a delicious lunch for us at L’Argaj in Castiglione Falletto, which provided a beautiful transition between visiting the Barolo and Barbaresco regions. One of our photos from the day in Piemonte is called “We Have a Dream” which encapsulates the passion of the winemakers in this region for the wine they create with hard work, family business focus, organic farming, climate adaptation and always-on innovation. Lastly, because our travel base was in Genova, One On The Hill conveniently helped arrange a driver for us between Genova and Alba and back. The whole day was memorable and one we will never forget.

Pier has fantastic knowledge of wine and the area! Would absolutely book again! He answered all of our questions and showed us a unique experience.
