Beläget i Tabanan, cirka 20 kilometer (12 mi) från Denpasar, ligger templet på en stor offshore-klippa som har formats kontinuerligt under åren av havsvatten. Tanah Lot-templet byggdes och har varit en del av balinesisk mytologi i århundraden. Templet är ett av sju havstempel runt den balinesiska kusten. Vart och ett av havets tempel etablerades inom synhåll från nästa för att bilda en kedja längs den sydvästra kusten. Förutom den balinesiska mytologin påverkades templet avsevärt av hinduismen.

Taman Ayun-templet översätts bokstavligen som "vacker trädgård" och anses allmänt vara ett av de mest attraktiva templen på Bali. Taman Ayun-templet ligger i en vacker park med träd och dammar nära byn Mengwi på södra Bali, cirka 8 km sydväst om Ubud och 18 km nordväst om Denpasar. Pura Taman Ayun byggdes 1634 av Raja av Mengwi, I Gusti Agung Putu. Det är ett så kallat Pura Kawiten, eller familjetempel, ett speciellt tempel där de gudomliga förfäderna från Raja-dynastin i Mengwi och viktiga gudar från andra tempel hedras.

The driver/guide, Nik was very tentative on what we needed, on time, guided us through the sights, waited patiently for us to take all those beautiful photos of the temples. We had a wonderful time, although the traffic was bad and it was cloudy no dramatic sunset. We highly recommend this tour and Nik as your guide.

Nik was able to weave his way thru the heavy Bali traffic, made worse by road and bridge closures after the recent deadly floods, and get us to both temples with plenty of time to enjoy them. We even managed to squeeze in a visit to a coffee plantation - well done Nik! The temples were peaceful and quiet and filled us with a sense of calm and serenity. Well worth the visit.

Well worth the trip! We were picked up directly from our villa in Seminyak. Putu our guide/driver was early, and did an excellent job of getting us safely through the traffic! Putu accompanied us at all times, sharing his knowledge of the history and traditions associated with both temples. The car was clean, with good air conditioning & free bottled water. Would definitely recommend to others.

Nyoman took us to Tanah Lot and Taman Ayun temples. Taman Ayun was quiet and beautiful; definitely a little off the beaten path but worth a visit if you have time. Tanah Lot was beautiful, especially if you can walk around the coastline area. It was a great afternoon excursion, and Nyoman took really great photos of us! He was really nice and communicated about the experience— it was great to have someone to take us around and get beautiful sunset pics!
