Hwaseong fästning är en imponerande struktur från den senare delen av Joseon-dynastin (1392-1910). Fästningen byggdes som en visning av kung Jeongjos filiala fromhet gentemot sin far.
En Hwaseong Haenggung var ett tillfälligt palats där kungen och kungafamiljen drog sig tillbaka till under ett krig.
