Mysore Silk-turen från Bangalore tar oss tillbaka till 1792 när berättelsen om Mysore Silk börjar med att Tipu Sultan ställer upp silkesmaskuppfödningsstationer. 1912 startade Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV Mysore Silk Weaving-fabriken för att starta den industriella produktionen av Mysore Silk. Vi kommer att besöka Asiens största sidenkokongauktionsmarknad, Mysore Silk vävfabrik, Mysore Palace och en gammal basar. Denna turné arrangeras av Five Senses Tours, ett privat aktiebolag erkänt av turistministeriet och en medlem av Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO). Turnén har utformats för att stödja lokala försörjning genom anställning av lokala guider och stödja lokala företag i linje med företagets uppdrag att säkerställa att resepengar stannar där de spenderas.

Vi kommer till Ramnagaram, en liten stad som ligger 50 km från Bangalore. Året var 1780 när Tipu Sultan, härskaren av Mysore, fick Silk som gåva från en ambassadör för Qing-dynastin i Kina. Fascinerad av detta magiska tyg sände Tipu utsändare till Bengal och Kina för att ta reda på mer och så småningom inrätta 22 Silk Breeding stationer som sparkar igång Mysore Silk Revolution. Ramnagaram är känd idag för sin silkeindustri och tar emot 50 ton silkekokonger varje dag vilket gör det till Asiens största silkekokongmarknad. Vi kommer att besöka Government Silk Cocoon Market och om vi är tur kan vi till och med bevittna en auktion!
Nästa fyllnad för Mysore Silk kom 1912 när Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV köpte 32 kraftvävstolar från Schweiz och inrättade Mysore Silk Weaving-fabriken. Under åren klädde inte bara fabriken kungafamiljen utan gjorde också fallskärmar för den brittiska armén under andra världskriget! Fabriken är i drift även idag och vi kommer att besöka den. Det är en fascinerande upplevelse att se processen för silkeproduktion från rullning av kokong till vävning av sidenväv. Vi kommer att besöka fabriksutställningen för att se en fantastisk samling av Silk Sarees som är den färdiga produkten från Mysore Silk Weaving-fabriken. Silk Sarees är en kulturikon i Sydindien. Dessa Sarees, som sträcker sig från 6-9 meter, bärs av kvinnor under lyckliga tillfällen som ett bröllop eller en födelsedag.
Grand Mysore Palace är vår nästa destination. Vi kommer att resa tillbaka till den gyllene eran av Mysore Maharajas för att föreställa oss den härlighet som var Mysore, förkroppsligad av detta underverk byggt i indo-saracenisk stil med en blandning av hinduiska, muslimska, Rajput och gotiska arkitekturstilar. Palatset är en tre våningar stenstruktur, med marmor kupoler och ett 145 ft fem våningar torn.
Nästa på vår tur till Mysore besöker vi Devraja-marknaden, den charmiga gamla basaren i Mysore. Det är en sensorial glädje som består av blommor, grönsaker, frukt, jaggery, lök och potatis, puffed ris och kokosnötter!

A great trip for those who are interested in silk manufacturing as well as visiting the palace. We went to the silk market, which is Asia’s largest silk cocoon market. After that we went to the old silk factory, which is still operational even today and have the full cycle process of Silk production from reeling of cocoon to the weaving of silk fabric. Then the Mysore palace with a private guide, and the local market.

This tour and tour guide were AMAZING! Diwakar spent the whole day with me and I felt like I saw and learned so much - about Mysore, silk weaving, Indian history and culture - truly everything. It is hard to pick a favorite part of the experience; I think it is a toss up between the once-in-a-lifetime banana leaf lunch, the amazingly beautiful Mysore Palace, the electrifying Mysore marketplace, and the buzzing weaving factory. Do not hesitate to book this trip and soak in every last minute of it! Bonus note: As a solo female traveler experiencing India for the first time, I was a bit nervous going into this. I am so grateful that Diwakar was a perfect blend of respectful and friendly, helping navigate numerous unique experiences with expertise, compassion, and context. I felt both secure and empowered throughout the whole experience!
Impressive and informative visit to a huge silk cocoon market and a government silk factory. (Know before you go: you must check all your personal belongings before entering the factory) Amazing to see how the silk comes off the cocoons, and all the steps in the weaving process. Did some sightseeing highlights of Mysuru and bought some unfamiliar but delicious fruit in the market. Lunch was wonderful. Great day for people who are interested in understanding how things are made.

It was a very good experience. Got a lot of input on Mysore Silk and it's history. We got to learn about a lot. How it is made, how it becomes a silk from a cocoon.

I enjoyed the trip and it was informative and at the same time I enjoyed alot we visited 4 place in one day I never thought that can explore 4 places in one day and gain knowledge about all the places like from cocoon to hills it's was memorable day
It was an amazing and knowledgeable trip. I got to learn a lot about the weaving and production of silk. It helped me gain knowledge about the same. It was a fun trip.
The experience was amazing! We had lot of fun with took so many photos. We had lot of tasty food as well. We saw amazing views. We also bought many stuffs from local shops.
