Lokalbefolkningen använder namnet Dramaten för att referera till Dramaten, Sveriges nationalscen för "talad dramatik". Teatern, byggd i jugendstil, har legat här sedan tidigt 1900-tal. Från Bergman till Skarsgård har många kända svenska skådespelare och skådespelerskor arbetat eller uppträtt här.
Kungsträdgården är i dagligt tal känd som Kungsan. Detta är en av stadens främsta mötesplatser, med en historia som går tillbaka till 1400-talet. Idag är det en plats för konserter och festivaler under sommaren, och det är möjligt att åka skridskor i parken under vintern. Under våren kan besökarna njuta av körsbärsblommorna och på hösten ändrar löven färg.
Kungsholmen översätts som Kings Island. Den fick sitt namn först i slutet av 1600-talet. Idag är den känd som den yngsta stadsdelen och har det högsta antalet singelhushåll i Stockholm.
Stockholms stadshus är en av Sveriges mest kända byggnader, byggd i nationalromantikernas stil. Med sina tre gyllene kronor högst upp i tornet, med utsikt över Mälarens strand, är den också en viktig del av stadssilhuetten.
Rålambshovsparken är resultatet av ett program i början av 1900-talet, där parkens sociala betydelse betonades. Tanken var att parker för rekreation och lek skulle finnas nära där människor bodde så att alla, oavsett social status, kunde njuta av friluftslivet på kort eller ingen tid och utan stora kostnader. Idag är det meningen att stockholmarna bara ska ha 300 meter till sitt närmaste grönområde som folk använder året om.
Bron invigdes i början av 1900-talet och går mellan öarna Södermalm och Kungsholmen. Stockholm Marathon, som sägs vara världens vackraste, går över bron två gånger.
Reimersholme är en liten ö med några tusen invånare. Det har en lång historia av att producera både laglig och illegal alkohol. Om du någonsin har hört talas om Absolut Vodka, börjar historien bakom det här.
Långholmen är en av de grönaste öarna i staden och ett populärt rekreationsområde. Här kan du bada, se utomhusteater, njuta av en god måltid och besöka fängelsemuseet, för att bara nämna några saker.
Södermalm är den största av alla öar som utgör Stockholm. Under större delen av dess existens har det varit hem för de fattiga och arbetarklassen. Inte längre! Idag har hipsters väl och verkligt förvandlat Södermalm till en trendig plats att bo, arbeta och leka på.
Den högsta naturliga punkten i centrala Stockholm, Skinnarviksberget, ligger 53 meter över havet och en favoritplats bland lokalbefolkningen för picknick och fester under bar himmel. Utsikten är fantastisk – över vattnet kan du se Kungsholmen, Gamla Stan och Stockholms Stadshus.
Mariatorget är hem för Hotel Rival, där ABBA först sågs tillsammans efter deras uppbrott 1983, för premiären av Mamma Mia the Movie den 4 juli 2008.
Slussen översätts till "slussen", och anledningen till låset är skillnaden i vattennivån. Två vattendrag omger Stockholm: Mälaren på ena sidan (väst) och Östersjön på den andra (öster). Mälaren är cirka 70 cm högre än Östersjön.
Stortorget är det stora torget i Stockholms Gamla stan och det bästa stället att börja utforska det. Det är där det första rådhuset byggdes, där Nobelmuseet ligger idag, där köpmän från när och fjärran kom för att byta produkter, där drickandet ägde rum och där avrättningar hölls under en viss tid. Idag är torget främst känt för en händelse 1520 (Stockholms Blodbad).
Kungliga slottet är en av Europas största och mest levande platser. Det är Hans Majestät Konungens officiella residens och här förekommer väsentliga delar av monarkins representation. Kungliga slottet är också den vardagliga arbetsplatsen för Kungaparet. Detta gör Kungliga slottet i Stockholm unikt bland Europas kungliga residens.

For me, the best way to get to know the place is by bicycle, the guides are prepared, show the obvious and the peculiarities of the city. They show paths, monuments, tell stories, talk about the economy, politics, habits of the inhabitants... I like and recommend the guide, as in each place there are rules for driving bicycles and the guide teaches.

We took this excursion as we walked off of a cruise ship. We had a wonderful time exploring the city and our bike guide even took us down to the riverside to get some very unique photos. There wasn't a lot of traffic and it was an easy ride. I would definitely do this again.

<p>This was my favorite tour in Stockholm! Lisa was an excellent guide. Easy to understand, knowledgeable and fun - all with a cold! If you enjoy being outdoors and are in reasonably good shape you should definitely do this tour. It gives you a great view of so many areas and is really helpful in getting oriented to the city. I would recommend doing this as your first tour in Stockholm. The great thing is you have use of the City Bikes for two more days after the tour!</p>

<p>This was a fun tour and the guide was great. Special bonuses: the bike was good for a 3-day rental, so we got it for much longer than the tour; surprise karaoke event in front of the ABBA hotel; the guide treated us to a "fika" (Swedish coffee/pastry break).</p>
