Vit travertinsten användes för att bygga komplexet eftersom endast denna sten fanns tillgänglig i den mängd som räcker för en så stor konstruktion. Själva byggnaden inrymmer Cafesjian Center for the Arts med utställningshallar där permanenta och tillfälliga utställningar hålls. Utställningarna uppdateras regelbundet för att visa upp de bästa exemplaren av samtida konst och skulptur.

Banbrytandet av Operateatern ägde rum den 28 november 1930 med anledning av Sovjetarmeniens 10-årsjubileum. Den 20 januari 1933 invigdes byggnaden officiellt. Strax efter teaterstiftelsen bildades en baletttrupp. Svansjön av Pjotr Iljitsj Tjajkovskij var den första balettföreställningen 1935.

Nice walking tour. The plan is well drawn up, and even if you have already been to Yerevan - it will be interesting, as guide Anush knows so many facts, stories, listening to it is a pleasure and the route itself a little away from the main sightseeing tour.
We were on a sightseeing tour with Anoush.We liked the way she tells it, for understanding and simple. adds interesting facts from her life.quite dynamic and not boring.
Annush is a great guide who lovingly and engagingly told us about the rich history of Yerevan. Two hours of the tour flew by in one breath despite a quite hot day.

Hello! I was in Yerevan at the end of May. The weather is beautiful. We took a tour of Yerevan and had a guide, Anush. A wonderful girl, professional, she speaks Russian very competently, literary, and I also found out that she conducts tours in English and Spanish. She is a very interesting person. The tour turned out to be amazing, eventful and interesting. I recommend the tour guide Anush!

I really enjoyed the sightseeing tour of Yerevan with guide Anush. An erudite and competent specialist, a charming girl who speaks excellent Russian, talks very interestingly about the history of her ancient city. We thoroughly enjoyed the excursion.
