Katedralen i Modena är ett Unesco-arv för mänskligheten sedan 1997. I romansk konst nådde arkitektur och skulptur sitt högsta uttryck i religiösa byggnader, med sin kraftfulla arkitektoniska struktur och stendekorationer som översatte den medeltida människans komplexa andlighet till bilder. Guiden förklarar både utsidan och interiören i katedralen.
Från sin utsiktspunkt med utsikt mot Piazza Grande, är Palazzo Comunale faktiskt en serie bifogade medeltida byggnader klostrerade inom en arkad i början av 1600-talet. Dess ovanliga attraktioner visar viktiga punkter i Modenas historia. Först finns det en hink med lokal lore som plundras av staden Bologna under slaget om Zappolino 1325. Som en symbol för medborgerlig hjältemod inspirerade skopan Alessandro Tassonis berömda håliga heroiska episka dikt, 'La Secchia Rapita' ('Stolen Bucket'). Inuti palatset besöker du några historiska rum.
Romarkitekten Bartolomeo Avanzini designade Palazzo Ducale, som byggdes från 1634 och framåt. Este domstolens hem i mer än två århundraden, idag är det huvudkontoret för den italienska militära akademin. Detta kommer att vara ett externt besök.
En UNESCO-arvplats, tillsammans med katedralen som den gränsar till och Piazza Grande den har utsikt över, är Ghirlandina (eller Garland) tornet så kallade på grund av den dubbla vridningen av balustrader som krönar det som en girland. När man stod 87 meter hög (eller 285 fot) hög slutfördes denna symbol för Modena av Campionese Masters, som också arbetade med de senare medeltida modifieringarna av katedralen själv. Detta kommer att vara ett externt besök.
Marknadshallen i Liberty-stil i Via Albinelli skapades 1931 för att hysa de bås som alltid hade upprättats runt Piazza Grande. Handlarna i Mercato Albinelli erbjuder många typiska produkter från Modena-regionen samt certifierade varor.

Cultural tour that lives up to expectations Friendly and prepared guide
Very knowledgeable and competent staff. The itinerary for the visit of the old town is complete and sufficiently detailed.
A nice visit, confirm.A couple of hours around Modena, with a guide (Simonetta) affable, prepared, essential: a pleasure! The route touched Piazza Grande, the Duomo (magnificent), the Ducal Palace (Accademia) making us appreciate the three historical periods: Roman Modena, Medieval Modena, Modena capital of the Estense duchy. Congratulations as well to the Modenatur Agency, able to organize everything with clarity and simplicity, since the Prenota.consigli highly: not to be missed!
We take a very interesting tour of the city and its monuments and attractions that characterize it. The Duomo, the Synagogue, the Ghirlandina Tower. Sus calles invitan a recorrerla.
Guided tour of Modena with Modena City tour. A very interesting visit full of details. Our guide Chiara was very good, prepared and never bored us. I highly recommend this experience!
It was an okay tour. It started at 3:39, so the market was already closed & then we arrived at the Ducal Palace, it was closing also so we could not visit. The guide was fine but not easy to hear. Don’t think I could recommend therefore. Also Tour ended at 1.5 hrs, not 2!
Isabella is very knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour of the church. We were in and around the church for almost an hour. Then in 30 minutes we were back to the tourist info office and the tour was over. Only 1.5 hours for what was supposed to be a 2 hour tour. (you get what you pay for)
Isabella was so knowledgeable and easy to understand she was a pleasure. She even came prepared with a drape for anyone that needed coverage to enter the church! Wonderful tour.
On Easter day we took part in the walking tour of the historic center with Leonardo. It was beautiful and very interesting
