Not my usual thing but this was surprisingly enjoyable. Some impressive acrobatics and energetic drumming. The firewalking team at the end were also impressive.
The show is not bad. We were lucky and had good seats, so we could see everything. I have seen toilets all over the world - many very nasty, but the award for definitely the worst goes to the washroom without water, but in a state I want to explain in more detail. If you're already making so much money per night, at least a few rupees should be left over for the toilet.
We really enjoyed the show! Just the right length (about an hour) The dancers were very entertaining and their costumes were impressive. Definitely worth going for something a bit different !
Great Sri Lankan dance show where you can cool off while watching the show. We had a great time. Sheets will be distributed to explain what each dance represents. And a nice surprise at the end. Room not air conditioned or part is sheltered
During our stay in Kandy, we attended the Kandyan Cultural Dance Show followed by a Fire Dance Demonstration, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. The cultural dance performance was fascinating from start to finish. We loved seeing the traditional Kandyan costumes, energetic drumming, and graceful movements that have been part of Sri Lankan heritage for centuries. It was both entertaining and a beautiful way to connect with the local culture. After the dances, the evening ended with a thrilling fire performance. The performers wowed the crowd as they spun blazing fire sticks, danced with flames, and even walked barefoot across fire. It was exciting to watch and a perfect way to finish the evening. The venue was well-organized, and the show lasted just the right amount of time. I highly recommend adding this experience to your itinerary if you are visiting Kandy. It’s a great way to learn more about Sri Lanka’s traditions while enjoying an unforgettable evening.
The show was great but the place old and worm out. The bathrooms dirty. We were there well before the performance started, but did not help and we got bad seats in the back with other families since most of the seats had been reserved by big bus groups. (Both upstairs and downstairs). Seat reservation should be open to all and not only the big groups. Many places offers this show. Stay away from the one in Kandy.
We were recruited for a fire show. What we got... little fire, a lot of show. Initially, traditional dances were performed with a lot of drumming. By the time this was over, we were already very disappointed, as fire was not yet seen. Everyone then went outside and there they played with fire for about 5 minutes (swallowed fire and walked over burning coals).
It’s a bit confusing trying to find the place as there are 3 different cultural dances on all at the same time. But once we figured out where to go and met the guide it was great. We had reserved seats nearish the front. The dancing was excellent and the fire show near the end was great. I would recommend going to this as an evening activity
The performance it sells was great but be warned if you have a selfie with any of the dancers they want money and are not very happy if you say no.
This was offered by the tour operator so we went along. It was lovely to see their cultural dance and their outfits. There costumes were very ornate and the dancers were very skilled and impressive. 4/5 due to hawkers inside the venue - once you are sitting so can’t escape. They are very persistent and we had to be quite rude to get rid of them. Be careful about taking photos at the end as the dancers pressure you into tipping them. Arrive early - a front row seat or near the front advisable.
Thank you very much for your feedback and suggestions to improve the program. ❤️
