På din väg mot Poseidons tempel har du möjlighet att absorbera Atens södra förorter, såsom Old Faliron, Alimos och Glyfada. Ett kort stopp för bilder kommer att göras vid Vouliagmenisjön. Lagunen bildades för cirka 2 000 år sedan. Det var en gång en stor grotta som kollapsade efter en jordbävning. Konturen av det kollapsade grotttaket kan tydligt skönjas på avstånd. Sjön har ganska unika miljöförhållanden: den förses med varmt havsvatten (28-35ºC) via en underjordisk kanal som sprider sig genom ett nätverk av översvämmade grottor, så dess temperatur sjunker aldrig under 18 °C (vanligtvis runt 21-24 °C) , medan en sötvattenkälla minskar sin salthalt till bräckta nivåer (14,5-18 psu). På grund av sin konstanta varma vattentemperatur och sitt rika innehåll av svavelväte har sjön fungerat som ett spa sedan slutet av 1800-talet.
Varkiza är en pittoresk havsnära by mitt på vägen till Cape Sounion. Området är mycket populärt för atenarna för korta utflykter på grund av dess stränder, butiker och klubbar.
Poseidons tempel är byggt på toppen av kullen, precis vid mötesplatsen mellan Saroniska havet och Egeiska havet. Templet var tillägnat Gud Poseidon, havets herre och det var där alla sjömän offrade ett sista offer för att blidka Gud Poseidon innan de lämnade säkerheten vid Saronic Golf. Enligt grekisk mytologi var Kap Sounion den punkt varifrån den grekiske kungen Aegeus kastade sig från klippan till sin död, på grund av den felaktiga tron att hans son hade dött. Denna uråldriga tragiska berättelse involverar ett tema som fortfarande används i modernt berättande idag.

Hämtning i hamn : Din chaufför möter dig vid kryssningsterminalen i Pireus hamn med en H.P. Rundturer skylt med ditt namn på. Observera att Pireus hamn har tre terminaler, terminal A, B och C. Beroende på vilken terminal ditt fartyg kommer att lägga till vid, kommer din chaufför att vänta på dig vid motsvarande utgång. (t.ex. om ditt fartyg lägger till vid terminal A, kommer din chaufför att möta dig vid terminal A utgång etc.) Om ditt fartyg lägger till vid terminal B eller terminal C och motsvarande utgångsgate är stängd måste du ta bussen för att komma till terminal A (3 MIN RIDE), där din chaufför väntar på dig.

Sounion such a beautiful place and so nice to have a nice van and wonderful driver to get us out there and even some great secret spots for great photos along the way. topped off with a private dinner at a local restaurant on way back. Excellent time for the family!

Timing the crowd is key. Jimmy adjusted our trip to put us there ahead of the “sunset” bus tours, and it made an enormous difference. We had no line going in and passed a huge line going out.

The drive along the coast was beautiful! We had a delicious dinner of Greek salad, fish, and shrimp. Highlight was sunset and our driver, Panos. He was amazing and so nice. We learned so much about Greece. Wonderful time!

Basically just a car service to Cape Sounion. I booked for 4pm which I guess was too early? So we had to stop for dinner at 5 on the way not on the way back, as advertised. The sunset at the Temple of Poseidon was at 8:24 pm. So we didn’t need to get there until 7:30. Not sure why we weren’t told that. The dinner spot was fine. Great people and the food was good, but not a place I would have chosen on my own. There were other seemingly more interesting places in the area. Our driver was nice, but quiet. We didn’t expect a tour guide, but some of the other reviews mention drivers who were talkative and informative. Overall definitely worth going to Cape Sounion and the temple of Poseidon. That said, this was just hiring a driver to get there. Not sure we needed to spend 500 to do that and then an addition 300+ for dinner at 5pm.

The beautiful ride along the Athens coastline coupled with the sunset at Poseidon's temple was absolutely breathtaking. The tour was greatly enhanced by Jimmy our driver/guide who was a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to be with. This tour is highly recommended.

A relaxing and beautiful drive along to coast to a few surprise stops and then the Temple of Poseidon. We never got to dinner because I was feeling unwell, but our wonderful driver Tragadis Theofilos, Theo, stopped for the most amazing ice cream on the way back. Theo was a pleasant host and driver, taught us about the history of area and described the beautify of the country beyond Athens...it made us want to come back and explore more of Greece.
