The guide was very rude, a bad experience.
We enjoyed our time kayaking in Xochimilco on this tour. PROS - We booked the 10:30 am tour, which worked well for our family with kids age 15, 12 and 9. I didn't want the kids to get up very early for a sunrise tour and then be grumpy the rest of the day. The tour group ended up being just the five of us so it was a small group, which was nice. The kayaking equipment was in excellent condition - the kayaks, paddles, and life jackets all were clean and relatively new. The canals were beautiful and interesting. We saw the chinampas farms, many kinds of birds, cows, flowers, trees, etc. We were in a calm part of the canal system and only saw one other boat with tourists. The guide was friendly and answered our questions. CONS - I was expecting to have a guide that actively provided information about the Xochimilco region and the farms/plants/birds/etc. that we passed while kayaking, and our guide did not. He was silent unless we asked him specific direct questions. He was friendly and answered our direct questions, but never volunteered information or pointed things out. He was often texting/browsing on his phone while kayaking, and made us stop for a "break" at one point so that he could be on his phone while we just sat and waited. The tour organization never contacted me to provide information about where to meet, but they were responsive when I reached out. I reached out via WhatsApp two days in advance and they promised to send a detailed email info the night before at 7pm, which they did not, but when I reached out via WhatsApp at 8pm, they replied and sent me details over WhatsApp. OVERALL - I'm glad we had the chance to do this. The kayaking was great, even though we didn't learn as much as I hoped. It was sunny on the water, so make sure to wear sunscreen.
Don’t book this! We got up at 4:30 am and took a 40 min ride to Xochimilco and when we got there- no one was there to meet us. The driver called several times and someone picked up and soda they were coming to get us but no one ever showed. Totally unprofessional. Now I have to try to get my $ back
This was a fun tour, but be prepared for a very early morning and a crazy traffic jam of fellow kayakers, especially at the beginning. Once you leave the insert point and spread out a bit, it's a little more enjoyable. If you are looking for an unpopulated excursion, this is not it. We went on a Saturday morning and once you get to the main canal, there were hundreds and hundreds of other kayakers watching the sunrise with you. It still was amazing and the breakfast afterwards was delicious, but be prepared to be with everyone else. The kayaks themselves were nice Lifetime-brand. The life jackets were clean, dry and looked new and didn't smell. The canals themselves . . . well, that's another story.
The idea for this excursion is great! Kayaking at sunrise is beautiful. Our concern though was that there were so many kayaks and kayakers that getting to the main canal was full of kayak jams and a bit of chaos. We weren’t always sure which group we were in and where to go.
A worthwhile experience. The company was punctual, clear, and excellent service from all staff.
Manuel was a great guide! Unfortunately without knowing much Spanish, I didn’t learn as much as I could have. But the kayaking was really peaceful and enjoyable
After a somewhat daunting start (at 5am) our gentle guide set our minds at rest as we began to paddle our way through the streams of Xochimilco listening to the crowing of roosters. As we entered the wider lake and enjoyed the spectacular sunrise over the misty water white herons watched over us. Paddling was easy for a beginner. Our guide used his phone to translate his answers to our questions in English so we both learned more of each other's language. Breakfast was nourishing and tasty and the simple fire pit warmed us. All in all we are glad and proud that we did it. A memorable adventure!
They never communicate with you. You arrive without knowing questions and they tell you that if that is where they take the walk and then they tell you that it is a Fraudulent Enterprise and they ask you to communicate with your Enterprise which they NEVER ANSWER 55 8087 1905 left us VERY BAD IN SERVICE.
Great experience, very tidy and always in the care of the whole group. The day I did the Kayak, it was a small group. It’s worth getting up early to do this activity, and if or if you have to, you should wear a change of pants and underwear, it will end up wet and there is not enough time for the clothes to dry. I took the choice of walk and breakfast but the latter, in my opinion, is not worth it.
