Smaka och besök små ekologiska vingårdar med en vinmakare
Beskrivning
Som vingårdsägare, vinmakare och student i vinodling kan jag erbjuda gästerna min unika erfarenhet och utbildning. Jag kommer att kunna visa dem på nära håll och med praktisk erfarenhet vad som krävs för att göra vin från jorden till tappningsprocessen. Dessutom är jag väldigt nära vinmakargemenskapen i Krems vilket ger mig möjligheten att skapa kurerade upplevelser för mina gäster. Slutligen, under min 25-åriga karriär på IBM, arbetade jag med kollegor och partners från mer än 50 länder runt om i världen, jag har internationell erfarenhet av människor med alla typer av bakgrunder och kulturer.

Donaufloden kommer att guida oss under vår rundtur i vinregionen. Cirka 2,5 timmar kommer att vara på turnén och 30 minuter kommer att ägnas åt att köra mellan de olika platserna.
Vi kommer att köra upp från havsnivån cirka 400 meter genom några vingårdar för att besöka Kapitel Zwei Wine, en mikrovingård i regionen. Kapitel Zwei eller "Chapter Two" är ett experiment för att ekologiskt och hållbart odla franska druvsorter, inklusive Chenin Blanc, Roussanne och Sémillon, och åldra dem i amfora och ståltankar i Krems an der Donau, Österrike. Druvorna kommer att handplockas från en enda vingård eller "reds" som heter Kremsleithen. Den övergavs för decennier sedan och återplanterades i maj 2022. Kremsleithen kommer från den branta sluttningen ("Leiten" på tyska) som går ner till floden Krems. Den nämndes första gången i register som går tillbaka till 1266 och ligger 300 meter över havet och består av lerig, sandig jord och lera.
Vingården Mantlerhof ligger i kommunen Gedersdorf, nära floden Kamp precis innan den smälter samman med Donau. I väster kan man se ljusen från staden Krems, öster kan man skymta Grafeneggs torn. Om du närmar dig den traditionella vingården kommer du till bykärnan i Brunn im Felde. Mitt i denna by ligger en härlig damm, på den västra sidan av denna damm ligger en gammal herrgård med en tidigklassicistisk fasad. Denna gamla herrgård kallas "Mantlerhof", en liten familjeägd vingård med lång historia. Familjen Mantler arbetade på Mantlerhof i över 200 år och rotar sitt vinframställningsarv tillbaka till 1365. Vi bearbetar 15ha vingårdar, där de producerar ekologiska viner som håller länge. Deras fokus ligger på Grüner Veltliner och Roter Veltliner
Ulrike Filp och Robert Bormuth, tillsammans med sina vänner och familj, är personerna bakom Weingut Feldtheorie. Under sina studier i naturvetenskap upptäckte de en kärlek till vin när de var på en resa till Nya Zeeland. När de avslutat sina studier visste de: att vinframställning skulle vara i fokus för deras liv framöver. De reste utomlands för praktik i Tyskland, Australien och Österrike innan de slutligen bosatte sig i Wachau. När möjligheten väl dök upp att köpa sina egna vingårdar i grannlandet Kamptal tvekade de inte. Tillsammans arbetar de i källaren och vingårdarna och försöker uppnå ett mål: att föra vidare Kamptals unika karaktär genom våra viner till alla.
Vi kommer att besöka den mousserande vingården WeinSchach. WeinSchach är övertygad om att naturen har allt ett extraordinärt vin behöver att erbjuda. De menar att vin då ska få utspela sig fritt i flaskan. Utveckla sin fulla arom och hitta sin balans. Målet är en Pet Nat på lika villkor med den här världens fantastiska mousserande viner. För att uppnå detta experimenterar de. De vill gå till botten med möjligheter. Även om det ibland betyder - tillbaka till början. De är övertygade om att dessa upplevelser resulterar i fantastiska viner. Och den logiska konsekvensen är att de arbetar biologiskt i framställningen av sina mousserande viner, skördade för hand och de gorged.
Vi avslutar turen med en kort 7-10 minuters promenad genom några vingårdar till en utsiktsplats med utsikt över regionen.

Observera : agendan är curerad efter dina vinintressen och smak. Tidpunkten är också flexibel för när och var vi träffas. Om du bor i Wien kan du ta ett direkttåg till Krems (som är en härlig resa längs floden Donau) och jag kan möta dig på tågstationen. Ett annat alternativ är att anlända till Krems via båt från Wien och jag kan möta dig på båtstationen. Om dessa alternativ inte är lämpliga kan vi samordna en plats att träffas.

Such a fantastic experience with Chris, what a guy! We really enjoyed our time with him, had great conversations, and learned a lot of stuff about the region and its wine scene. Being a bit new to the wine world, I never felt out of place and learned a bunch of stuff that I'll keep in my back pocket for sure. The whole experience was curated to our taste beforehand following some little messages exchanged with Chris, and he came and get us directly at our door the day of the event. The whole thing was super professional and was very well adapted to our style. Thanks to Chris, we tasted some great wines, met nice people, and saw places we would've never seen in Wachau otherwise. Seeing smaller producers felt so important and fun, what a privilege to have seen this! This is one of the highlight of our entire trip in the valley. Chris is an amazing guide! Not only is he extremely knowledgeable in the wine making process but also knows everything about the history of the region. Kapital Zwei wines are delicious as well…highly recommend, you won’t regret it.

We left for this tour from Vienna. We did have to figure out how to get from our ship to the pick up point which was near the Schönbrunn Palace. After that, the tour was amazing. At the first stop, it was a small winery, and we tasted several wines from the beginning of the fermentation process to the finished product. It was very educational. The Venner’s were really nice and accommodating in the wines or explained in their uniqueness. This was well worthwhile.

If you want an experience that is wine-forward but wrapped in history, countryside and local, small production vineyards, this it it for you! You’ll read other reviews about how great Chris is as your guide throughout the experience, and it is all true. Knowledgeable, personable and focused in the future of wine making and sustainability… it was fascinating. And to walk on Chris’s vineyard was amazing and frankly the best views on our Vienna trip.

Chris took us on a trip to visit 2 boutique wineries in the wine-growing region near Vienna. It was a pure delight. We were greeted by the winery owner at each place and given a description of their wine-making craft and intent. We were then served tastings of many of their products while they told us about themselves, their winery and the wine we were tasting. Chris, himself, owns/rents several small vineyards in the area and is actively engaged in making wine himself. We walked some of his vineyards and he told us of the history of wine-making in the area and the recent/current state of the industry there. Overall very enjoyable and a unique, small group experience.

Can’t recommend this tour enough - we had the best experience! Chris was an amazing guide and catered the tour to our level of experience (which was low) and wine preferences. The wineries we visited were stunning and Chris’s winemaker friends were lovely hosts. We tried MANY different local wines and loved them - we will definitely be looking for more Austrian wines back in the states!
