Smaka dig igenom tjeckisk mathistoria

Beskrivning

Wow! Christian made us feel very welcome as we started the tour. His knowledge and passion about Czech food is inspiring. We loved the history of The Czech Republic and all the different topics we talked about. The food on the tour was amazing, the soup as a starter was the tastiest we've ever had (better than mine). We enjoyed walking off the food between courses. If you're coming to Prague make this tour a priority even if you're not a foodie.
My spouse and I enjoyed a tour of Czech food and history with company owner/founder Christian who was well informed and quite passionate about his country and the food. We ate a lot of delicious food whilst learning about a culture and people that is very rich. There is some walking but very doable-our tour day was raining and still was not a problem! We made three main stops for food with a final coffee/dessert stop at the end. I ate more than enough and he was able to accommodate mine and my spouses pescatarian diet very adequately. Who knew there was such delicious fish in Czech Republic? I know now! Highly recommend Christian and this food tour!
Christian was very personable and extremely knowledgeable. Not only does he talk about Czech traditional foods but took us to places where the traditional have a modern twist. The food and the beverages was fantastic. Highly recommend. You get a nice tour and fee well!
Thank you Michael for your kind words. It was pleasure to meet you and your company. Keep up supporting genuine local food wherever you go!
Such a great tour! We try to do a walking, bike, or food tour in every city we visit. And this one was one of the best we've had by far! Highly recommend doing this tour on day one or two of your arrival in Prague for many reasons. Chris knows and loves the food and history of his city. We learned a ton about the local cuisine and what sets Prague and The Czech Republic's food and drink apart from other places. Food is truly at the heart of every culture, so trying local cuisine sets you on a path for higher learning about why and how that cuisine came to be. This is where Chris shines as a guide who clearly has a ton of knowledge and passion about where he comes from. Walking around learning about the history of the city can also help you decide what you would like to explore further during your time there. There is so much more to a city than the tourist trap areas and instagram-worthy spots. Being able to speak with a local about what sets their city apart can help make the most out of your time there. Highly recommend this tour!
Going on a food tour is a hallmark staple in any vacation my wife and I take. I even paid $750 for a high end food tour in Paris. I can wholeheartedly attest that Chris's food tour in Prague is the best we've ever been on. When I plan, I go big on research. I found several quality food tour operators in Prague but only one of them was a published food author: Chris. I researched him further and learned that he was published by one of the major book publishers in the Czech Republic (i.e. he wasn't a self-published Amazon author which anyone can become). So his book had to go through rigorous review and copy editing prior to being released. That was an immediately distinguishing feature because I'm familiar with the publishing world and understand how rare and selective it is to get published by a major publisher. Further, reading through articles featuring Chris (with the help of Google translate) cemented my commitment to sign onto his tour. The experience itself met and exceeded my expectations, which were already set very high. The tour itself was very well thought out. Technically it's a tasting, but Chris set it up to deliver a full meal with an intentional appetizer, beverage tasting, main entrees, and dessert. His knowledge of the food, history, culture, and local eateries is all top notch, and what I appreciate about Chris is that because he is an author, he's very thoughtful in how he conveys that knowledge to an audience. I've been on tours where you have to pull information out of guides. But Chris has put together a really nice and well thought out program that seamlessly takes you through both culinary and historical highlights, scratching every curiosity you could think of for each topic of examination. Not only that, he's very warm, sociable and personable, which heightens the overall tour experience. I agree with another review that Chris's tour is an excellent thing to do on your first or second day in Prague. Not only that, I was able to message Chris directly through his business's Facebook page and he provided incredible restaurant recommendations prior to my visit that made planning meals a breeze. Not only that, he was able to connect me with a driver for a private transfer I requested to multiple towns and he got me the best price of any operator I inquired with. What I really wanted above anything was an authentic experience. So when Chris walked us up to a food stand with rotating pork shoulder, claiming to be "Old Prague Ham", I was amazed when Chris explained how it wasn't actually authentic. Like authentic Champagne or Parmigiano Reggiano, authentic Prague Ham has exclusive, rigorous production standards. Chris took us to one of the few places that sells authentic Prague ham and it was delicious! There are a few places that sell it because it's laborious to make compared to "Old Prague Ham" which takes shortcuts and liberties. There were so many Trdelník stands throughout Prague—as if every block had one. Chris explained that too is a cultural imposter, made famous by social media targeting uninformed tourists, and he took us by three different shops that sell authentic Czech treats. For our main entrees, Chris ordered a selection of classic Czech meats, including Prague Ham, that were so delicious. We had the original meat loaf, which is so much better and nothing like the American meat loaf I grew up with. That's a taste I'll never forget. We also had a cola made by a pharmacist back in the old days that tastes like Coca Cola but is made with real sugar. I also got to taste the original Budweiser (Bud Var) and a couple of authentic Czech spirits. Just as memorable as the food are the stories Chris told us about the history of Prague. I'll never forget sitting by the Jan Hus Memorial as Chris revealed the history of Jan Hus and the 30 years' war as well as any historical research expert could. He also pointed out architecture, took us to a nice park to have our dessert, and had the answer to every question we asked out of curiosity. I 1000% recommend Chris and his tour. Book it and you won't be disappointed!
This was a great food tour! Chris picked authentic Czech food from very high quality restaurants. The food was great but he also gave us deep history and background of the city, as well.
Chris was a fantastic tour host. He was extremely knowledgeable about food, national and global history. We loved all the food choices he selected and thoroughly enjoyed his company. I would 100% recommend this tour for an introduction to Prague and all it has to offer. Try it on your first day but don’t eat anything beforehand.
A Must Do tour for Day 1 in Prague. An excellent introduction to the old city of Prague , its long and varied history and culture and above all its food and drink. Chris was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, interested and interesting, willing and fun. Do not have breakfast first. Do it.
I have to say that this is one of the best tours that I have ever been on (and I have toured a lot around the world). My only regret is not doing this tour on our first day in Prague! Christian educated my family group on food history by combining it with the history of the region (and the world at times). He is extremely engaging and his passion for food was evident and shone through in his choices of the traditional food and the locales in both the Old Town and New Town. The food was just delicious and we left with very full bellies. I highly highly recommend Christian’s Prague food tour and will be encouraging everyone I know to head to Prague! I guarantee that you will not be disappointed!
A great tour with Christian through the old and new town. The food, drink and places we ate in were amazing - and filled with locals, which is always a great sign. I learned so much about the history of Prague and the connection to its food. It’s a brilliant way to start any trip to Prague and I’d highly recommend it.
