Nora was friendly, calm, and professional. She is very knowledgeable and shared information on Hungarian cuisine as well as some history. She guided my family of 3 around the city and we had a wonderful time. There was a lot of food so do not plan much for dinner afterwards.
The tour was great - we learned so much from Nora about Hungarian cuisine as well as about Budapest and Hungary in general, and had lots of lovely Hungarian food and drink. We also got tons of recommendations about restaurants, bars and more. Highly recommended.
Nora knows!!!! She met us promptly, shared her planned itinerary, and was open to modification to accommodate the fact the we had skipped breakfast. The Central Market was an amazing experience, enhanced by Nora explaining the culture and the history. Our breakfast stop brought us something that looked like a pizza, but was perfectly fried dough slathered with cheese and topped with bacon. We wisely chose to share one.. there was more to come. We strolled the market to see the different types of produce, enjoyed a charcuterie sampling, had a lesson on foie gras, and lesson in paprika , before leaving the market. We then visited a traditional place for lunch where we sampled goulash soup and palinka, a traditional spirit, then to a bespoke chocolatier, where we sampled the wares, and ended in a coffee shop where we enjoyed coffee and traditional pastries. It sounds like a lot, and it was, but paced out over more than 3 hours it was just right. Highly recommend!!!
We absolutely loved our tour with Nora. We got a glimpse into Hungarian culture that is very difficult to get normally when visiting, trying a variety of foods that go beyond the standard things that are waved at tourists. She provides so many interesting facts about culture, history and more specifically food and was a wonderful host. The tour was well-paced and provided a great variety of sights and things to try. Very happy we chose this tour as our entry to the city! Very much recommended.
What an amazing food tour! One of the best we have ever done! So comprehensive in sharing with us all the truly authentic foods! We learned about and experienced how Hungarians eat. Morning food through fabulous midday meals to afternoon desserts and coffee! I can’t say enough wonderful things about this experience! We walked throughout the city, enjoyed food in the great market hall, learned about paprika and truffles, enjoyed cured meats, and enjoyed every delightful dish along the way!
Nora does an excellent walking tour of local Hungarian establishments to sample various savory and delicious foods. She has a lovely personality and is passionate about teaching you about what they eat at home for meals and unique foods for special occasions. All the foods we tried were delicious and for our first time eating new to us. Sampled local alcoholic drinks palinka (a fruity brandy) and Unicum (a herbal secret recipe of medicinal benefits). The establishments we visited are the ones the locals prefer. The walk between the establishments was very pleasant and enjoyable. Nora explains in detail the complex history of Hungary. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with Nora and we highly recommend to select her walking tour for lasting memories of Budapest.
We joined Nora’s tour as a party of two, so it felt almost like a private tour — and it was absolutely excellent. Nora put together a very well-rounded experience that combined Hungarian history, culture, and culinary traditions in a highly enjoyable way. The tour was informative without ever feeling heavy, and we learned many interesting and surprising things along the way. It was entertaining, relaxed, and perfectly paced from start to finish. Nora comes from a gastronomy background, and it is very clear that she knows her subject inside out. Her many years of experience really show. For anyone interested in food, culture, and Hungarian history, this tour is a clear recommendation. We enjoyed it very much and would book it again without hesitation.
Dear Frank, thank you very much for coming on the tour! It was a pleasure to meet both of you:) HOpe you will be back to Budapest and Hungary soon! Warm regards, Nora
Nora was fantastic, the tour well surpassed my expectations. As a solo traveller I had a 1-to-1 food tour with Nora and she not only led me through some culinary highlights of the city, but provided historical context and other information. You cannot miss this tour, it is amazing!!
Nora was a wonderful host showing us around town and sharing a number of stories and anecdotes on the history, architecture, culture and people of Budapest. The food tasting was just an add on! She was very engaging and attentive to our needs and wanted to make the tour as memorable as possible. Highly recommended!
My wife and I have taken food tours all over the world, and this one with Food Tour Budapest easily ranks among our top three favorites of all time. Our guide, Nóra, led us on an incredible five-hour walking tour filled with unforgettable flavors and stories. She took us to places we never would have found on our own, introducing us to authentic Hungarian food and drink every step of the way. Along the route, we sampled Unicum and Pálinka, fresh bread with lard, onion, and paprika, a mushroom cream grilled sandwich, a wide variety of salami, several excellent wines, traditional goulash soup, chestnut cake, and so much more. Nóra’s English was excellent, and her knowledge of Hungarian cuisine and food culture was outstanding. She didn’t just feed us—she gave us a true introduction to the Budapest food scene and helped us understand why these foods matter. We absolutely loved this food tour and would recommend it without hesitation. A++
Thank you very much for the fantastic review! It was my pleaseure to meet you and hope you will be back to Budapest soon! Warm regards, Nora
