Byggnaden uppfördes i flera faser.
Liksom många byggnader i Pompeji skadades baden kraftigt under jordbävningen 62 e.Kr.

Very well organised, guides very friendly. Mello gave a bit of background information on the coach to Pompeii, very clear instructions when we got there and after having 20 minutes refreshment break we were straight through to meet our other guide Luigi who took us around Pompeii. He was extremely informative and interesting. I found that personally in the August heat a half day trip was enough. Very glad we went and my teenage son enjoyed it too. Thank you
We took the half day Pompeii tour. The air conditioned bus was awesome in the heat, Nello and Luciano did a great job in getting us there and back. Once in Pompei we were handed off to Luigi for the tour. He knew the history and what we saw — mainly the main streets, shops, bakeries was interesting, but he skipped the main highlights of the tour, and why I chose this tour. The description said we would see Casa di Fauno, the largest and most extravagant house in Pompeii. We didn’t. It said we’d see the Forum. We didn’t. We didn’t see the Grand Theater or even pass by the Forum baths or the brothel. When I asked Luigi if we’d be seeing these, he said he did a different tour. What we saw was not worth the tour price. He focused on main streets, and shops, bakeries, a bath house and the main square which showed us only a piece of the full livelihood of the people back then. Disappointed to say the least. They need to ensure that their tour description is what is shown.
Dear Traveler, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words regarding our transport team, Nello and Luciano. We are glad to know that the journey from Sorrento was comfortable and smooth. Our standard itinerary is carefully designed to include all the famous highlights of Pompeii, which we deliver consistently day after day. However, when exceptional on-site conditions arise, our guides must make real-time decisions to safeguard our guests' comfort. To give you full clarity on what occurred during your specific visit, Pompeii is an active archaeological park where monuments like the Grand Theater are subject to sudden temporary closures for maintenance beyond our control. Furthermore, on days with extreme summer heat and overwhelming crowds, standing in unshaded queues for over 30 minutes at spots like the Lupanar is simply unsafe for our groups. In these rare instances, our guides exercise expert discretion to protect you from the heat while maintaining a high-value experience. Near the House of the Faun, where the group pauses by the fountains, the guide provided the historical commentary from the exterior due to heavy congestion, choosing instead to offer a premium, quiet alternative: the magnificent House of Marcus Lucretius Fronto, alongside the Antiquarium. Far from cutting the experience short, these agile adjustments even allow us on occasion to gift our guests access to newly excavated sections that lie beyond the standard tour route. As for the Forum, it serves as the mandatory entryway and central axis of our route, making it an element every single group passes through. We appreciate your feedback as it allows us to explain the rare logistical challenges our guides manage behind the scenes, and we hope to welcome you back for another journey in the future. Kind regards, IAMME IA! Gray Line Team
Fabulous day, first with Louisa on the bus and then with Patrice at the ruins. Patty was a very knowledgeable lady and took us around and explained things on the way. I think we picked the hottest day to do it though 🥵 Great day and great way to see Pompeii.
Excellent guides, very knowledgeable. The narrative was both fun and informative , the whole service from start to finish was great
If travelling in high season - particularly with kids then the early morning 4hr trip is perfect. It’s so hot - you definitely want to avoid the afternoon sun. Guide was great and we had a lovely visit - it’s a fascinating place!
We had an excellent guide— Lulu. She was informative, funny, and kept us in the shade while seeing amazing sites at Pompeii. My son and I loved the tour.
Well organised day and a great guide. Heat is a killer but we were pre-warned. The whole family enjoyed and glad we went
Great organised tour. We were picked up 2 minutes from our hotel, given ear pieces to listen to the guide. The air conditioned coach ride took about 45 minutes to get to Pompeii. We were then put into a group with a very knowledgeable English speaking guide who had trained as an archaeologist. She was very knowledgeable but also appreciative of how hot it was and kept finding shade for us to go to. She led us round the key parts of the city and taught us about things we would never have learnt. We then returned on the coach. We were given time at the start and end of the tour to buy drinks, food and souvenirs. Very highly recommend this tour.
Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for taking the time to share this excellent review and strong recommendation! We are so glad to hear that your experience was seamless right from the start! Having an archaeologist lead the group makes all the difference in uncovering hidden history you might otherwise miss, and we are so pleased she kept everyone cool and comfortable by hunting out shade along the way! Balancing an enriching historical walk with well-timed breaks is always our goal for a great day out. Thank you for choosing to explore Pompeii from Sorrento with our team, and we hope to welcome you back for another fantastic tour in the future! Best regards, The IAMME IA! Gray Line Team
We had a great trip to Pompeii and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was our first visit and I'm glad we had a guide to show us around. It was the middle of the summer, so it was really hot. They did a great job of finding a little shade here and there despite the fact that the city does not naturally offer much. I'd recommend this tour to any friends. The only small thing we would change would be to have a little free time at the end to visit spots the tour didn't make it to. It's hard to see everything in just a couple hours but being in the heat for 2 full hours was also about as much as we could handle. We're happy to have learned all the history from the informative guides and it gives us a reason to visit again in the future!
Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for the detailed review and recommendation! We are so glad to hear that your first visit to Pompeii was a great experience and that our guide kept you engaged with the history while thoughtfully hunting down every patch of shade available! Navigating that midsummer heat is no small feat, and balancing shade breaks with world-class history is always a top priority for our team. We also really appreciate your constructive feedback regarding free time! As you mentioned, 2 hours in the summer sun is usually the sweet spot for comfort, but Pompeii is so vast that it always leaves you wanting more. We love your outlook: having so much left to discover just gives you the perfect excuse to come visit us again in the future! Thank you for exploring with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back for Chapter 2 of your Pompeii journey! Best regards, The IAMME IA! Gray Line Team
A well-organised tour from Sorrento to Pompei. Leaving early to avoid the crowd which also helped to avoid the worst heat of the day. There was a refreshing coffee break at the gates before entering the site - a well planned and practical pause which helped to focus on the vast historic area and the information given by the guide. We saw the most important objects, like a house and its garden, a bath, a bar, frescoes, water pipes and (in the museum) ancient jewellery and coins from Pompei. And of course the ancient streets and the general view with Mount Vesuvio.
Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for the thoughtful and detailed review! We are so glad to hear that the early departure and the scheduled coffee break gave you the perfect energy boost before stepping back in time! Pompeii can be overwhelming, so our goal is always to balance a smooth, comfortable rhythm with a rich, curated look at the site's most fascinating details, from the intricate frescoes and ancient water pipes to the everyday shops and preserved artifacts. Thank you for choosing to explore Pompeii from Sorrento with our team, and we hope to welcome you back for another seamlessly planned tour in the future! Best regards, The IAMME IA!
