Six18 Distillery Tours

We decided very spontaneously to book a whiskey tour there after we drove past the distillery the day before. We just went there in the morning and were warmly welcomed; Patricia took us along and explained the history of the distillery as well as that of Irish whiskey in a very entertaining way. She also gave us exciting insights into the production process, and afterwards, the production of gin could not be left out. We were also able to test the different scents at various stations - everything was really designed with great care. In the end, the tasting could of course not be missing.

We were greeted by our guide, the lovely Trish, who was both entertaining & knowledgeable. The gin distillery is fully up and running. Using locally sourced botanical flavouring. I did not try this product but the explanation was detailed and easy to understand. The whiskey base products are currently bought in but plans are in place for 3 new stills. Currently the mashing, blending and storage in casks for 4 or 6 years is completed on site. Again very detailed explanations and Trish knew her stuff! The whiskeys we tasted were superb. I fully recommend a visit &, of course, purchasing the whiskey from their onsite shop!

We toured 3 distilleries while in Ireland, and Skellig was the best by far. Patricia was an amazing tour guide and was so personable. We got to smell each spice individually, which was really cool. We purchased a bottle of the 8 yr old whiskey and are very excited to bring it home to America. We will definitely tell our friends to go if they come to Ireland.

My partner and I had a very nice, informative, and pleasant tour with Patricia, followed by a delicious whiskey tasting. We were lucky enough to be the only guests for this tour, which gave us a very exclusive atmosphere where we could get an insight into the production and the heart of the distillery. It was a great tour- very interesting and interactive. Shannon did a terrific job telling us about the history of Skellig and the brewery, and we learned so much about the process of making Irish whiskey and gin. The whiskey was excellent. Overall, we loved it and highly recommend it!

The history of distillation and the story of the distillery, very well presented by a passionate and humorous guide; the highlight of the visit, of course, was the tasting with the discovery of a gin with a delicately marked and excellent flavor.

We had a really nice tour around the distillery with just the tree of us. Our guide gave us plenty of information about the background of the Skelligs, the history of the distillery and Irish whiskey itself. He told us the process of making whiskey and gin and let us taste two different whiskey at the end. The tour took us about 35 minutes. Absolute recommendation of you love a small and personal tour.
