Invigningen av det arkeologiska museet i Varna och dess vidareutveckling är nära kopplat till namnen på de två bröderna Herman och Karel Škorpil, tjeckiska efter ursprung, som kom till hjälp med utbildning och kultur för deras syster slaviska nation efter befrielsen från Bulgarien från det turkiska oket. 1894 bosatte sig de permanent i Varna. Den 12 december 1901 grundade en grupp socialt aktiva personer och lärare Varna Archaeological Society som sedan årtionden har varit den grundläggande motiveringen för intresse och studier i historien om Varna, Varna Region och nordöstra Bulgarien. Invigningen av ett arkeologiskt museum var en viktig uppgift för samhället. Byggnaden byggdes ursprungligen för att vara en Girls High School mellan 1892–1898 efter designen av den berömda bulgariska arkitekten Petko Momchilov. Arkitektonisk stil är ny renässans. Byggnaden består av ett källarområde och två våningar. Det bildar nästan ett komplett torg och har en rymlig innergård. Vissa av rummen och korridorerna är dekorerade med väggmålningar. En kontinuerlig korridor går genom hela byggnaden, vilket leder till utställningslokalerna.

This museum is like everything in Bulgary, the content is interesting but the people are not ready for tourism. We arrived at the museum with children 1 hour before the closure. They didn't want to sold ticket for an hour. We explained that it was ok for us as we were with children. They accepted but asked us to be at the exist 10 minutes before the closure. After 15 minutes, some guardians asked already us to move to the exit. We finally did the full visit in 45 minutes after having be asked 5 times to move to the exit. Nothing ready for french people. No audio guide proposed as mentioned on the website. Ps. Don't visit yhe toilet...
This activity gave us the guides notes and an entry which made me buy it. Great value for money. Recommend to anyone on an individual trip. In my case it was with the business partners.
While in Varna we booked this activity which features an e-guide and entrance to the Archaeological museum. It's wonderful to have all the guides notes and to explore at your own pace. Real bargain with the entry.
This was a total rip off. I spent $11.50 for admission instead of a few lev. They gave me nothing & told me to read the English on the walls. You should be ashamed of yourselves for selling this
