Wat Thmei (Thmey) – Siem Reaps dödsfält och minnesmärke över folkmord Wat Thmei ligger strax söder om Siem Reap (ca 10–15 minuter med tuk-tuk eller 20–30 minuter med cykel) och är en av flera platser i Kambodja som kallas "dödsfält" från Röda khmererna. Från 1975 till 1979 återanvändes Wat Thmei – en buddhistisk pagod – som fängelse och avrättningsplats för Röda khmererna. Fångar togs in, tvingades till falska bekännelser, och tragiskt avrättades och begravdes i närheten i massgravar och brunnar. Det uppskattas att omkring 8 000 oskyldiga kambodjaner - inklusive intellektuella, tidigare tjänstemän och jordbrukare - dog här under regimens brutala styre.
