Overall it was enlightening and informative, however we booked the early morning tour as it was a Saturday and York was to be extremely busy. This Tour was cancelled and the email from Trip Advisor to advise us of this went to Spam so we did not see until we arrived at the meeting place accordingly. We tried to contact Trip Advisor to no avail and turned up for the 1pm Tour the same day - York by then was heaving with people so the Tour was abbreviated to suit and was a larger Group than both the Guide and we preferred.

Dave was a great guide and a wealth of knowledge. He knows his history of York and England. I'm so glad we booked this tour.

Dave was extremely informative & interesting providing a fantastic tour with his extensive knowledge and good humour in addition.

Dave is one of the most knowledgeable people I've yet to meet - what he didn't know about York (and the rest of the UK it seemed!) and it's history probably isn't worth knowing! He adapted the walk to what we wanted to see, and around our time constraints. Well worth the money.

Dave was a great guide. We had a morning tour but enjoyed it so much we stayed into the next tour he had for the afternoon. He had a easy manner and was very knowledgeable. He also introduced us to many people at many places along the tour allowing us to ask questions of people that worked or volunteered at the sights. Highly recommended would take again.

We went on a Sunday tour with Dave, and had an amazing afternoon. Informative and entertaining the same time, the stories and facts Dave shares will stay with you! No gimmicks or theatrics—just great history and interesting tales. We especially appreciated the details he shared about the little things we’d have missed walking around York on our own. Dave is a thoughtful and hospitable tour guide, and we’d definitely recommend spending a few hours with him in York.

Besides a city highlights tour he sprinkled in amusing stories as well as some modern day real concerns about the conservation and reconstruction of York’s gothic cathedral. David Haw is a wealth of knowledge and is a great character. His knowledge of history is encyclopedic, and where he didn’t have an answer to a question he didn’t hesitate to say so. He was funny and generous, encouraging us to join the next group because we had taken longer on our tour. I would highly recommend David - you won’t be disappointed.

We had the best time with Dave! We learned so much and saw many things we wouldn’t have seen or noticed if we had just explored the city by ourselves. Absolutely 100% recommend doing a tour with him!
