The tour was amazing, Kobus was incredible, not only a knowledgable guide, but also a superb driver, and lovely guy. Highly recommend this one, there were so many other highlights apart from just the dune / sea view, a really memorable day.

This is a not to be missed tour. We were lucky to have only 4 of us plus the tour operator/Driver in the truck. Saw it all: jackals, seals, Oryx, Springbok, Ostrich, top of the sand dunes, salt ponds and beautiful blue sky and sea. Also a very good lunch on the sand dunes.

We toured with Michael, the owner, and it was clear that his main goal was to make sure we had the best possible experience. The weather was not ideal at the beginning of the day, but instead of rushing through the itinerary, he patiently waited for conditions to improve. He even extended the tour beyond the scheduled time so we could enjoy the dunes at their best and find beautiful spots all to ourselves. Unlike many other operators we saw, Michael was never in a hurry and never treated us like part of a large group. The experience felt personalized, relaxed, and truly special. The food was delicious, and when we asked for oysters, they were happy to arrange them for us as well! We fully recommend MC tours for your Sandwich Bay dune experience. Everything was great from organising the pick up at the cruise ship terminal to delivery back there right on time. Our guide Michael gave us lots of good commentary as we drove along the beach past the flamingos on these lagoon and the salt mine to the dunes. We had heaps of fantastic photo stops - but the thrill of driving up and down the dunes was the highlight. This is a tour you must do and it’s much cheaper and more personal than doing it from the ship.

We booked the photo tour in the afternoon. From the office at the waterfront, we went with several photo stops into the desert and to the coast, where the dunes meet the sea directly. In addition to the photos along the way, it is primarily a dune roller coaster, where we go up and down steep dunes at a brisk pace. The tour concludes with a sundowner with snacks and drinks by the sea; we returned in the darkness. A recommendation for both photography enthusiasts and friends of dune off-roading.

This trip was exceptionally good. We were welcomed at the cruise ship by our guide Leon. A very friendly, experienced leader. All our questions were answered calmly and well explained. Communication with provider was easy and good. Pick up at the dock was completed at the appointed time. Excellent tour in comfortable vehicles. Tour covered a lot of ground. Very nice lunch included. Arrived back at cruise port at promised time.

Started slowly with overlong stops, but was great once we started driving on the sandhills. Food and drinks near the end of the trip was good. We didn’t see much in the way of wildlife, but that can’t be guaranteed on this sort of trip. The biggest negative was that our driver, Norman, never once gave us an account of the places we were travelling through, the history of the place or the animals, birds etc that we might see unless we asked him a specific question, when he showed he had excellent knowledge in answering. He needs to be the one who leads the account of the place as we travel, not wait until a question occurs to us, as there would have been lots of information he could have given us that we didn’t know to ask questions about.

Our ship docked early, so M C Tours messaged us to see if we would like to start an hour earlier, giving us an hour extra for the tour. The pickup was organised and on time with 4 in a car and 5 cars. The weather was grey and cold at first, but our driver told us that was normal, but guaranteed it would get sunnier and warmer within the hour - which it did. We went south, hugging the coastline, then arriving at what we thought were really big sand dunes - little did we know these were baby ones! The scenery was absolutely stunning, breathtaking, and the scale of endless sand and desert was staggering, our driver was amazing. He was careful, fast, slow, adventurous and dedicated to making sure we all had a great time. We went up and down precipitous slopes, revving gently to scale the dunes back to the top. Lunch was delicious - glass of bubbly and really nice buffet taken in the middle of the dunes and more than enough for everyone. It was a truly memorable experience.
