Mänsklighetens vagga förklarades som ett världsarv 1999 på grund av områdets exceptionella bidrag till vår förståelse av mänsklighetens historia, över 3 miljoner år. Sammanlagt finns det 15 stora fossila platser i mänsklighetens vagga, varav Sterkfonteingrottorna är den mest kända. Fossilen ”Mrs Ples” och ”Little Foot” upptäcktes båda vid Sterkfonteingrottorna, liksom tusentals andra fossil av hominider, som är mänskliga förfäder, liksom av växter och djur. Fler hominida fossil har hittats i mänsklighetens vagga än någon annanstans på jorden. Under denna tur får du tillgång till utställningarna och hela bilden av anmärkningsvärda fossila fynd.

The driver was a great conversationalist. Both tours had a perfect balance between tour guide talk and exploring. The cave you needed to stay with the group but there was plenty of time to ask questions and take pictures. Wonderful experience.
Visited Cradle of Humankind today. Went to Sterkfontein caves and Maropeng museum. Really enjoyed both of them, very well set up with lots of interesting information. We went to a great restaurant by the museum for lunch. Our guide was really good - learned lots from him and great sense of humour
Very educational experience. Prompt pick up, clean car and friendly driver and guide. Truly a must and not to be missed tour if you’re in Johannesburg.
Our driver/guide was great, very knowledgeable! I learned a lot from him alone! Our Guides at both Maropeng and Sterkfontein Cave were also excellent, knowledgeable, articulate, friendly and open to questions. The Humankind Museum (Maropeng) was informative, well organized and we'll presented! Sterkfontein Cave was also quite interesting!! I would recommend this to anyone interested in learning about South African archeological history and/or some of Humankind's archeological history.
The morning pick up was right on time and the trip out to the Sterkfontein caves was very informative. Navigating through the caves is, at times, a bit arduous with lots of steps and low, narrow passages but worth the effort. The Cradle of Humankind museum was very interesting but looked a little tired.
This was a great day trip from Joburg, and our guide, Lebo, made the experience even better. His extensive knowledge, both historical and contemporary, established a clear context for the places we visited and the things we saw. When visiting the caves, be sure to wear sturdy shoes and be aware that crawling, stooping, and many stairs are involved. The museum was beautifully laid out, and we really enjoyed the whole experience!
Driver from our hotel was prompt but a little too fast getting there. Guide was informative but not over enthusiastic. Museum tired but interesting. Cave were strenuous, lots of steps but fascinating...a wothwhile distraction from life in Johannesburg.
It was great, the guide was very comprehensive, the tour is very worth it, are extraordinary places that bring a lot of history.

I enjoyed my day trip to the museum and caves. The pick up was on time and the drive was safe. The guides at each site were informative and we had time to look at the exhibits. The trip was well timed to fit in with the tours at each site.
