Ett besök i Al Khor, som ligger 50 kilometer norr om huvudstaden Doha. Anses vara en av Qatars största städer. Al Khor är hem för många anställda inom oljeindustrin på grund av dess närhet till Qatars norra olje- och naturgasfält och till Ras Laffan Industrial City.
Stanna vid Purple Island, även känd som Jazirat bin Ghanim, cirka en timmes bilresa från Doha. Det är en liten ö, ansluten till fastlandet med en smal stig som är bruten på olika ställen för att låta vattnet rinna mot mangroveskogen.
Al Thakira-stranden ligger cirka 35-40 km från Doha och är en idealisk plats för att bada, sola eller tillbringa en avslappnad dag på stranden. Stranden erbjuder fridfull utsikt över Qatars största och äldsta täta mangrovereservat.
Al Zubarah är Qatars största arkeologiska arv. Den utsågs till UNESCO: s världsarvslista 2013 och är det bäst bevarade exemplet på en handels- och pärlfiskestad i Gulfregionen från 1700- och 1800-talet. Till skillnad från sina samtida är den i stort sett intakt och har inte gått förlorad under regionens stora moderna städer. Platsen, som ligger cirka 100 km nordväst om Doha, sträcker sig 2,5 km från Al Zubarah Fort till kusten. Staden grundades i mitten av 1700-talet och utvecklades till landets största och viktigaste bosättning. Dess framgång väckte uppmärksamhet från andra golfmakter, och efter flera attacker brändes staden ner till grunden 1811. Under de första decennierna av 1900-talet övergavs den. Idag täcker platsen ett område på 60 hektar med rester av hus, Masajid (moskéer), Madhabis (dadelpressar), stora, befästa byggnader och en marknad.

The Tour was very pleasant with the guide driver with whom we made it. He explained everything well and provided us with water and of course, invested us to a typical tea of the country. We visited Purple Island and Al Zubarak Fort. El Tour del Norte.
It was a very nice and pleasant walk with Zoahib, in English, explained many things and adapted the tour to our tastes, we had a great time with him and we could know several spectacular sites

Great chance to get out of Doha and see some of historic Qatar. My guide Zohaib was knowledgeable and friendly! Be aware, the shuttle to the village does not run on Fridays.

My tour guide Zohaid knows the lay of the land and was very helpful in pointing out notable structures, places and their significance. He also knows the history very well. He was able to give insight to the structures and locations; and was also nice and polite. I liked the views of the ruins of the old city - Al Jmeil and I definitely enjoyed reading the history of Al Zubara. The Mangroves were okay too.

The North Qatar 🇶🇦 tour should be included in everyone else’s bucket list! It’s absolutely amazing. You can learn so much about the history of Qatar, how and when it all begin! My Private tour was absolutely incredible. I have been picked up and dropped off via beautiful 4X4 car. My tour guide Ali was very knowledgeable, patient, encouraging , helpful and with a good sense of humour. He walk with me together with each stop that we made, took a lot of beautiful photos and even when I wanted to take an extra time to explore Al Zubair, he never ever rushed me. This tour is a perfect way to see the country’s important cultural sites and do it comfortably! Our tour guide (driver) Irfan was very easy to talk to, rearranged the tour plan so we could make best use of our limited time to see (before closing) the fort and ancient site of Al Zubarah and come in time for sunset at Mangroves and Purple Island!

It was a very bad experience. First of all. The Purple Island isn't as it's seems in the photos. It doesn't have any water. Then because a reason that I didn't know, we arrive one hour late to the Fort, so we can't get into the facilities as the tour arrive one hour late. More than a tour this is a scam. I need the tour give me back my money. I don't pay just to go around the dessert.
