Namnet på torget har ändrats med tiden. Det har varit känt som "Plaza del Arrabal", "Plaza de la Constitución", "Plaza Real", "Plaza de la República" och nu "Plaza Mayor". Worthwhile visit. Most of the furnishings are intact. The king abdicated in 1931, so it has not been a home since then, and still in wonderful condition. It is the world’s largest Palace—over 3,400 rooms. Also visit the armory—its three stories, packed with suits of armor for people and horses—extraordinary!
Jesús was a very informative and knew a lot of the history for the rooms that are open to the public.

It looked like we paid more than the going rate because we just bought the tickets about an hour before the tour began. But the tour itself we very good. Beatrice, the tour guide, we very good. Provided a lot of history, interesting stories and did not rush anything. Would def recommend - just buy tickets well in advance so you are not paying a premium for last minute add on.

Rafael is a fantastic tour guide. He has many stories and insights to share about the palace. He tried to make everything relatable for everyone in our group. We particularly enjoyed visiting the rooms that were not open for viewing by the general public. Only some areas of the palace were air conditioned. But overall, the tour was very good.

We really enjoyed our tour of the Royal Palace in Madrid! Tour was cancelled at the last minute by the operator per trip advisor. Operator called me directly and said they did not cancel and wanted us to meet them at the site. Did not receive a full refund.
