Din superyachtupplevelse börjar när vi seglar ut från Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) och beger oss mot lugnet i Singapores lugna hamnvatten. När besättningen skalar masterna för att sätta segel viker sig havet runt ditt eget privata bord på övre däck med den traditionella riggningen av detta lyxiga Tall Ship med 4 mastar och 22 segel som tornar upp sig och skapar en helt unik atmosfär som ingen annan! Siloso Point är skilt från Labrador Park på Singapores fastland av mindre än en halv kilometer hav. Denna närhet har underblåst en vandringssägen om en undervattenstunnel som förbinder brittiskbyggda fort och artilleribatterier på båda platserna. Trots många utgrävningar och restaureringar har ingen tunnel hittats och ingen förekommer på kartor eller dokument. Namnen på platserna och naturen på Blakang Mati återspeglar lokalsamhällena, den ekonomiska och sociala historien samt öns flora och fauna. Nära där Fort Siloso står, idag var ett område känt som Sarang Rimau, Tigers näste på malajiska, som används av Orang Laut för att återspegla deras kunskap om området.
Siloso Beach, en av tre stränder med badlaguner skapade av Sentosa Development Corporation, SDC under 1970- och 1980-talen har en rik historia. Namnet kommer från det malajiska ordet för ”sten”, ursprungligen en strategisk försvarspunkt. Det förvandlades till en levande turist hotspot på 1970-talet. Idag är Siloso Beach känd för sin beachvolleyboll, vattensporter och livliga nattliv, där energin aldrig bleknar och festerna fortsätter.
Palawan Beach, är uppkallad efter det malajiska ordet ”Pahlawan”, som betyder krigare eller hjälte. Under kolonialtiden besökte brittiska soldater Palawan Beach för att skydda simmare från frekventa haj- och saltvattenkrokodilobservationer. Britterna satte upp hajstängsel som kallas ”simning pagars” på malajiska. Tack och lov finns dessa rovdjur inte längre runt Sentosa, vilket gör det till en säker och trevlig plats för strandbesökare idag.
År 2003 lanserades Sentosa Cove som en 117 hektar stor gated enklav med 2600 bostäder, inklusive villor vid havet, herrgårdar och bostadsrätter. Av de 117 hektaren är 100 hektar återvunnen mark. Området omfattar fem konstgjorda öar Coral Island, Paradise Island, Treasure Island, Sandy Island och Pearl Island, mestadels reserverade för bungalows. Bostadsbebyggelsen är samlad i de norra och södra stadsdelarna. I juni 2015 hade Sentosa Cove över 5000 boende i 2160 bostäder, främst bostadsrätter, radhus och bungalows.
Lazarus Island, en gång känd som Pulau Sakijang Pelepah, vilket betyder ön av rådjur och palmer på malajiska, hyste fängelse skjul i slutet av 1800-talet. Dessa övergavs efter en fånges vågade flykt. Idag lockar ön besökare till sin rena, vita sandstrand på en c-formad lagun känd som en av Singapores bäst bevarade hemligheter. Lazarus Island är en av de få platserna på de södra öarna där privata yachter och båtar kan ankra, så att besökare kan njuta av dess orörda stränder och oförstörda skönhet.

Had my proposal to my girlfriend and now my fiancé, she said yes! Staffs helped a lot all throughout the cruise. They also took photos and videos for me. Food was lovely although you might want to encourage the chef not to hover over passengers while they are selecting their food. Wine quality was terrible. Flowers were beautiful. BUT seriously people stop with all the marketing emails. I signed up with Trip Advisor not with you. But you are abusing the access to send me way too many emails. Over 30 odd. And when I ask you to stop you then sent me two on the same day. So I asked again. And now you send me 3 of the same. Which is why I have rated this experience so poorly.

I went on this lovely cruise as a birthday surprise invitation by my wife. The ship is beautiful, well maintained, and the staff were generally kind and courteous. The food was also tasty, albeit some portions were somewhat small. (Par for the course in Singapore). While the service was good, I found that the service staff is not empowered to do what is necessary to delight the customer. For example, I was set to order a Long Island ice tea but I didn’t like Cuervo tequila and asked nicely if they would use Don Julio instead. The waiter looked at me as if I was from Mars, but he proceeded to tell me that he would have to check with his manager! He came back in a few minutes and promptly told me “So sorry, cannot”. At $25 dollars per drink, I would have expected a bit more flexibility and accommodation. If your business is in the hospitality industry, then this shouldn’t be such a difficult guest request. Similarly situation occurred as I asked for a 2nd roll of bread. There seems to be a scarcity mindset on board, which is incongruent with general principles of hospitality. I would have been more inclined to order more drinks if I the manager had been a bit more thoughtful and accommodating.

The overall experience is just great. It’s a nice cruise, and all the catering staff is very attentive if you need anything. Buffet food can be a hit and miss, but no complaints here as the food was good quality as were the free flow drinks. Special thanks to Captain Mike Willie and his crew who are not only sailing the ship, but also interacting with the guests. And thanks to him for answering my nautical question as well. It is good to know that this cruise does not take place under sail, but with engine power. For sure there are operational reasons for that. If you’re looking a pure sailing cruise, do enquire before if it will be under sail or under engine power.
