Under 1600-talets trettioårskrig drack före detta borgmästaren Nusch 3 liter vin i en enda gulp, det så kallade "Mästerdraget", vilket därför räddade staden från förstörelse. Sedan passerar vi det berömda Plönlein (Flat Square), en vägkorsning som finns i alla reseböcker i Tyskland. Det triangulära torget som bildas av vägarna finns i popkultur, historia och i ditt minne för alltid. Muren runt Gamla stan skapar en huvudformad figur i utkanten av gamla stan. För en bra utsikt över staden klättrar vi också den. Nu att glömma är också kyrkan St James, med sitt ”The Last Supper” mästerverk av Tilman Riemenschneider. Detta är den enda protestantiska kyrkan som har en romersk-katolsk relik i Tyskland. Avsluta din turné i Gamla stan och njut av en lugn promenad på egen hand genom de smala gatorna eller bara njuta av en lokal öl och några traditionella rätter i en av de historiska byggnaderna i närheten.

Rothemburg was a stopover for us but conscious because we had been there before. Rothemburg is amazing! It is not big but every corner and street is authentic and very atmospheric. The two Christmas shops of Käthe Wolforth is a must to go inside. You can eat and drink everywhere. Are you around then definitely do. 2 days stay is more than sufficient.

The town is so charming, but we had a very difficult time understanding our guide. We did the “Night watchman Tour” the next day, and our guide pretty much copied everything the night watchman said, except we could understand the night watchman…and then it all made sense. So basically…spend €9/eXh and go hear the night watchman at 8:00 pm at the St George Fountain. You’re welcome!
