Välkommen till Red Rock Canyon! Detta bländande färgstarka landskap fungerar som ett fönster in i jordens geologiska förflutna och mänsklighetens historia i Amerika. Idag är Calico Hills högar av hård, röd sten, men de såg helt annorlunda ut för 180 miljoner år sedan. Då hittade du istället ett stort fält av skiftande sanddyner.
Längre fram ligger Sandstone Quarry Overlook, där gruvarbetare brukade skörda sandsten!
Calico Basin Trail är en ganska enkel 1,5 mil lång ut-och-tillbaka-led som visar dig några nya vinklar på Calico Hills, men den fungerar mest som en förbindelseväg till andra längre stigar.
Behöver du en paus från värmen? Ice Box Canyon Trail ligger precis framför dig. Efter en 15-minuters promenad genom öknen, kommer vi att finna oss flankerade av klippväggar som skapar en helt ny biom.
Denna plats är särskilt populär bland fågelskådare, eftersom många av de över 100 fågelarterna i Red Rock kan ses från denna öppna, fria utsikt.
Längre fram är High Point Overlook, den högsta punkten vi kommer att se på vår turné på 4 780 fot över havet!

That they need to purchase a separate ticket through a government website. This should be made abundantly clear. I thought it included the fee.
Daniel, I do mention the separate entrance fee in multiple places—both before and after purchase—so travelers don’t face issues on the day of their visit. You may have missed that part. Don’t worry, my tour is valid for a year after booking. If you’ve left the location, I can help with the refund process or offer a replacement tour—just let me know what you need. The guided tour worked very well. It was nice to drive and learn some geographical and historical facts about each of sightseeing stops. The program worked very well if you follow instructions how to prepare ahead and download the program prior to this guided tour drive. $15.00 very well spent

The tour started out great,but once we stopped to walk around a little, it would not sync to our area. It only would restart from the beginning. We gave up!
Hi there! I'm sorry you had trouble restarting the tour after your stop. When the app reopens, it starts at the introduction, but you can easily skip it by going to the map and continuing from your location. Thanks for sharing your experience—I’m working on updates to improve this! The tour is valid for a year, so feel free to give it another try anytime!
