På 1880-talet hade några familjer i Buenos Aires så mycket pengar och bodde i så fantastiska palats att de började fundera på hur deras liv skulle bli efter döden. Det var då de blev intresserade av Recoleta-kyrkogården och började importera hela mausoleer från Europa gjorda av den bästa konstnären man kunde anlita på den tiden. We really enjoyed Esteban's tour of Recoleta cemetery. He was incredibly knowledgable and shared so much about the history of BA, the area of Recoleta, and the cemetery. Without him, we would have wandered around saying "Oh, that's cool...that's cool, too...oh look, Eva Peron's tomb." With Esteban, the cemetery was an essential BA experience. He was very friendly and funny and answered all our questions. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in history and art.
Absolutely brilliant! If I could I would give 10⭐️ We were lucky enough to just be our own group of 4 but would have been as good in a slightly larger group. Esteban was amazing. Knowledgeable, interesting and had a non-ending fund of amusing anecdotes. He also encouraged, and answered, our numerous questions! We had a superb afternoon with him, the time flew by! I could not recommend this tour highly enough.
This was a fantastic tour! I did the 9am tour because it is a cooler part of the day, and there are less people in the cemetery earlier in the morning. It turned out to be a fantastic choice-Esteban was our guide, and he is so knowledgeable about both the cemetery and the history of the area. He is such a fantastic story teller, and really engaged us with the lives (and deaths) of the people interred here. Because it’s a small group he was able to conduct the tour without shouting to a crowd (there were six of us) and took time to answer all of the questions we had. A visit to the cemetery would have been quite meaningless without the insight that he gave…I really recommend if you are planning a visit to invest in this fantastic small group tour to get the absolute most out of your time here!
Esteban recounted one story after another as our group strolled through Recoleta Cemetery. He covered history, politics, art, religion, architecture, economics, and social customs. His information provided a greater understanding of this beautiful city and country. All done with great enthusiasm and humor.
