Det har blivit den mest populära mötesplatsen i Puerto Plata. Faktum är att dess vackra park, även känd som Plaza de la Independencia, är en nationell symbol. Det byggdes som en hyllning till general Gregorio Luperón. Han erbjöd denna vackra park till staden Puerto Plata, när det var Dominikanska huvudstaden.
Cirka 100 meter från Central Park på Calle Duarte hittar du Ambar-museet. Ett utmärkt exempel på viktoriansk arkitektur som rymmer en unik samling av värdefulla prover av dominikansk bärnsten. Experter säger att denna bärnsten, känd för att vara den mest genomskinliga i världen, kvalificerar sig som halvädel. Den bildas av trädsaft som har stelnat under miljontals år och fångar många växt- och insektsfossiler.
Invånarna i Puerto Plata hävdar stolt att deras är den vackraste boulevarden (Malecón) i Dominikanska republiken. Senare kommer du att se varför när du ser de många vita sandstränderna som kantar stadens huvudgata, var och en med ett namn. Förutom dagar på stranden i staden, är boulevardens långa, skuggiga trottoar perfekt för morgon- eller kvällspromenader - soluppgångarna här är spektakulära....
I slutet av strandpromenaden vilar en viktig del av Puerto Platas historia, San Felipe-fästningen. Byggd av spanjorerna på 1500-talet för att försvara Dominikanska republikens nordkust från britterna och holländarna och från franska pirater på jakt efter områdets rikliga guld och silver. Anses vara en av de viktigaste koloniala militära strukturerna i Karibien, färdigställda 1577, fungerade den senare som ett fängelse och nu ett museum. Att turnera i fortet avslöjar de ursprungliga kanonerna som vetter mot Atlanten, antika vapen och många dolda kammare.
Sedan besöker vi "Del Oro" chokladfabriken där du kommer att se hur handgjord dominikansk choklad görs. Du kommer att uppleva kvaliteten på ekologisk choklad gjord med 100 % kakaobönor skördade från Dominikanska republikens jord.
Dessutom kommer du att uppleva smaken av Puerto Plata-rom gjord i Vinícola del Norte, hemmet för den stora Macorix-romen.
Efter ett kort men grundligt besök i Puerto Plata beger du dig till stranden Cosita Rica, cirka 10 minuters bilresa bort. Sedan kan du koppla av i en gratis stol, simma i vattnet eller njuta av en promenad på Puerto Plata-stranden. Ytterligare drinkar eller bitar att äta finns i strandbaren och restaurangen (extra avgifter). Strandsängar finns tillgängliga enligt först till kvarn-principen.

I just finished a tour and had a great time. Ricardo was our driver, who went above and beyond when he had to go back to o e of our stops because somebody in our group forgot their cell phone. Jesus was our tour guide and he kept us informed and entertained the entire day. We even got to meet his daughter when we stopped at Del Oro. It was an absolutely great day. I highly recommend them, you’ll have a great time (and the mamajuana they served us was delicious).

Was very fun and the guide was knowledgeable. Saw everything that was advertised. The chocolate factory had some really good chocolate for sale
We had Jesus as our tour guy and he was amazing. Very knowledgeable, funny, and easy going. This was a great way to see the city and experience different things in the island. We would definitely do another tour with Marysol Tours and would request Jesus if possible. The tour included a stop at the Rum Factory (tasting several different flavors), Amber museum, coffee tasting, chocolate museum (with hot chocolate and brownie tasting), tobacco museum, the fort, the beach, and city center where we enjoyed some shopping at the market place (although prices where better at the chocolate factory for souvenirs)and light snacks.
The other three people were ill, so I was very fortunate that my guide, Jesus, was willing to continue the four hour tour. Ricardo, our bus driver, was very good, too, in manuring through traffic. Jesus was very informative and watched over me on the way. I saw a lot! The only negative comment is that it took about a half hour to walk to the tour bus to begin the tour. The directions were clear, but it took much longer than the directions said it would. But I highly recommend the tour.
It was one of the best tours our family has had. We were in Puerto Plata for 2 days . We called Francisco the evening we arrived. He made arrangements for the city tour the next morning and also Paradise island tour the day after. The experience was stellar. Very organised and top class. The tour guides were superb. Drinks , snacks and Lunch available. Very cost effective . They even made accommodations after the city tour to accommodate our family’s needs. We would recommend this tour to everyone !!! Enjoy Puerto Plata !!!

Had a great tour with Ricardo (driver) and Jesus (guide). Went to rum factory, chocolate factory, beach and the city square area. The guys were knowledgeable and spoke good English.

This was an awesome tour with the Sexy Family group. Jesus our tour guide was awesome. He definitely went beyond being a tour guide helping out with bags and spirits. We really enjoyed visiting all the sights. The people in this city were so nice and helpful.

My family and I have been using Marysol Tours since our first trip to Puerto Plata in 2013. We have done many of the tours Marysol offers. This time, we did Paradise Island, the City Tour, and for the first time the half day dune buggy tour. As always, all were a WONDERFUL experience. Francisco has always helped me to make the best experience for my family. Paradise Island is a long trip, but so worth it. It is a wonderful day of sand, sea, and snorkeling. And the buffet lunch at the end is delicious! Puerto Plata City Tour gives you an in depth look at the city and their culture. We have done it multiple times and always learn something new! And we had a blast on the dune buggy tour! But be prepared for that one, bring along old clothes and shoes and masks that you won't care about getting dirty. We had planned to do the dune buggy tour in the morning and city tour in the afternoon. By the time we got back from the dune buggies, we needed to clean up to leave on the city tour. With our party of six and only two bathrooms, we were not going to make our pick up time for the city tour. But I reached out to Francisco, and he was more than happy to accommodate us and move the City Tour to the next morning. He is a great communicator and has always taken good care of us. And on the City Tour, Ricardo had a brand new van to drive us around. It is very comfortable and the air conditioning works great. And Jesus gave us a great tour. We have met both of them on previous trips. It is fun when they come to pick us up to see familiar smiling faces. This is a great tour company, and I give them 10 stars!
